When the holidays arrive, families look for events that capture the magic of the season, and the Rockport Public Library in the US is stepping up with a one-of-a-kind celebration.
As reported by PenBay Pilot, on December 13, the library will host a screening of The Muppet Christmas Carol, but the experience goes far beyond a traditional movie showing.

Children and adults alike will have the opportunity to step into a world inspired by Dickensian London, complete with festive treats and interactive storytelling.
Costumed volunteers will roam the space, including a lively portrayal of Charles Dickens, giving attendees a sense of walking through a storybook. Hot cocoa and baked goods will be offered as visitors mingle and explore, creating a warm and welcoming introduction to the film.
Attendees are even encouraged to wear pajamas or Victorian-inspired outfits, inviting them to participate in the holiday scene rather than just watch it unfold. Though it's unlikely guests will see anyone dressed as the likes of Kermit and Gonzo, the experience also includes a screening of the beloved 1992 film, which is reason enough to attend.

While Rockport offers a local, cozy interpretation, the celebration of The Muppet Christmas Carol stretches far beyond the US town. In fact, the home of Dickensian London itself is where most of the festivities are taking place: the UK.
Across the UK, live orchestras are now performing the film’s score alongside the film, enveloping audiences in the melodies that have become inseparable from the story. In London’s West End, the Prince Charles Cinema is hosting sing-along screenings, proof that the songs themselves also continue to capture hearts decades after the film's release.
The Muppet Christmas Carol is now also streaming on Disney+, whether it's the original or the version with the restored song “When Love Is Gone”. The film stars Kermit the Frog/Bob Cratchit, Miss Piggy/Emily Cratchit, The Great Gonzo/Charles Dickens/Narrator, Fozzie Bear/Fozziewig, and Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine).
