For more than thirty years, The Muppet Christmas Carol has kept a hold on holiday movie traditions, resurfacing every December with the same mix of sincerity and silliness that made it stand out in 1992. It’s one of the Muppets’ most enduring films, yet the parks have never given it more than passing recognition. Even as other seasonal titles have found footholds over the years, the beloved film has never landed a permanent place.

Earlier this year, Disney’s Hollywood Studios shut down the long-running Muppet*Vision 3D. Its closure, along with the rest of Grand Avenue, was part of the transition toward a full Monsters, Inc. land taking over the space. For the first time in decades, the Muppets had no active attraction in the park, let alone any dedicated to the 1992 holiday classic.
But the lull won’t last long. Disney already confirmed that Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster will relaunch next summer with the Muppets — specifically the Electric Mayhem — replacing the Aerosmith theme. But before that makeover opens its doors, the first hint of a new Muppet presence has shown up somewhere most guests walk past without noticing.

Inside Walt Disney Presents, a new seasonal event titled “Disney Takes a Holiday” has The Muppet Christmas Carol in its collection. As revealed by WDWNT, the display features Gonzo’s Dickens coat, Rizzo’s outfit, Kermit’s Bob Cratchit wardrobe, Tiny Tim’s costume, production photos, and a small model of one of the village houses built for the movie.
The exhibit also covers The Santa Clause, Noelle, and Babes in Toyland. In addition to the exhibit, Walt Disney Presents also features a Santa Claus meet and greet, while the theater shows festive holiday shorts like On Ice, Pluto’s Christmas Tree, and The Art of Skiing.
Unfortunately, the Muppet Christmas Carol exhibit is, of course, temporary. But with Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets arriving in summer 2026, could the 1992 classic find its way back next winter in the form of a seasonal overlay? We'll have to wait and see.
