Disney World Makes Official Change Separating the 11 World Showcase Countries at EPCOT

Walt Disney World Resort is fundamentally altering how guests experience the World Showcase at EPCOT by installing physical boundaries between country pavilions. The themed pavement dividers represent the first time in the park's 43-year history that Disney has created official visual markers distinguishing where one nation ends and another begins around the World Showcase Lagoon.

Mexico Becomes Testing Ground for New System

Walt Disney World Resort launched the boundary project late last year, selecting the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion as the testing site. BlogMickey reported on Thursday that construction initially focused on the south side walkway connecting Mexico to Norway, but has now expanded to the north side leading toward EPCOT's central neighborhoods—World Celebration, World Nature, and World Discovery.

A tan pyramid with steep steps, resembling ancient Mayan architecture in Mexico, stands under a bright blue sky. To the right, an arched sign reads "La Cantina" with a hanging lantern above it. Green trees frame the scene.

The Mexico dividers feature red-tinted pavement with geometric patterns drawing inspiration from Aztec design motifs. Whether this culturally specific aesthetic will repeat at other pavilions or if Walt Disney World Resort plans unique designs for each country remains unknown.

The ambitious project faces a lengthy road ahead. Walt Disney World Resort must eventually install dividers around all eleven World Showcase countries: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, The American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, France, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Construction crews haven't started work beyond the Mexico pavilion, and the Central Florida theme park has provided no completion date for the full World Showcase transformation.

How about replacing or at least pressure washing the rest of it. Looks terrible. Dropping Magical Express and new Lightning Lane revenue could surely cover this work.
