Once upon a time, Walt Disney World Resort has some pretty cool secret spots only well-educated Guests knew to access. But, like most truly awesome things, the “best-kept secret” becomes known by too many people, and we have to accept that their status evolves to a “not-so-secret spot,” and eventually just becomes one of the best spots to hit.
It is time that we do what must be done and strip a few Disney World spots of their “secret” status, and we should start with these three.
Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto
What was once truly one of the best-kept secrets of the Magic Kingdom Resort Area is now one of the most popular joints on the entire property. With a walk-up-only policy, lines to get into Trader Sam’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort now start forming over an hour before they open, and they will not seat anybody unless the entire party is present.
But who can be angry about that? This hidden speakeasy is one of the coolest spots, with the only group of Cast Members that can rival Jungle Cruise Skippers in their personality and wit. The drinks are also out of this world, several of which are shareable and are available with souvenir glasses. Families of all ages are welcome in during the day, but the is one of the few that will close to anybody under 18 later in the night.
Remember to drink responsibly and follow house rules.
Cinderella Castle Suite
It is hard to understand why this is still considered a secret after scores of publications have written constantly about it. Yes, there is a hotel suite inside Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park. No, you can’t see it without a special tour, and no, you can’t stay inside. Designed to be Princess Cinderella’s Guest room, reservations are normally reserved for special Guests via invite-only. It is considered one of the most exclusive hotel rooms in the world.
Brunch at Disney Springs
Believe it or not, Disney Springs used to be an unpopular place. Since Imagineers rethemed it from Downtown Disney, the revived shopping and dining options have given Guests a reason to visit the one area that is not a Theme Park during the day. Now, some of the best brunch spots at Walt Disney World are found at Disney Springs, among them being Wine Bar George. I’ve advised my readers multiple times to have one non-park day, and Disney Springs is the place to spend it.
