Guests at Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom Park were caught off guard recently when an emergency alert prompted a swift evacuation of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the newly reimagined Splash Mountain.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which transports guests through the bayous of New Orleans alongside Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, and their friends, has quickly become a beloved fixture of Frontierland since its debut earlier this year. However, not every ride experience has gone smoothly. Guests have experienced occasional technical issues with the Princess and the Frog (2009) ride, reporting unexpected breakdowns during previews and initial operations. This recent evacuation added a new layer of surprise for Disney Park guests.
According to Redditor u/OldChris87, who shared their account of the incident, they were among the last guests ushered off Tiana’s Bayou Adventure when the ride was abruptly closed:
“We were the last or second to last log to complete the ride before they shut it down. We were on it during the fireworks and decided to ride again since there was no line because of the fireworks show. As soon as we got off the second ride, we were urged to exit the area, quickly, with all hands on deck. Workers everywhere.”
The Disney Park guest described seeing numerous cast members urging them and other guests to leave the area swiftly. “Seemed very eager to have us out of the area,” they noted. “No fewer than 10-15 workers all telling us to leave the area. We assumed someone was injured.”
While Walt Disney World Resort has yet to comment on the nature of this emergency alert, it’s worth noting that minor incidents or sudden ride closures don’t always lead to official reports or public statements. Such situations are often handled internally, with Disney’s safety teams stepping in to manage potential issues. The park resumed regular operation of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure shortly after, with no indication of prolonged closures or additional concerns.
Though unconfirmed, it’s not uncommon for unexpected moments like these to stir up a bit of worry, especially for those who witness a rapid evacuation firsthand. As always, Disney Parks fans are encouraged to keep safety in mind and to promptly follow cast member instructions in any evacuation scenario.
