Back in 2020 — which seems like a lifetime ago — Disney shocked fans around the world when it announced that it would be closing the iconic Splash Mountain attraction at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort. The ride would be receiving a complete Princess and the Frog retheme. Months later, we learned that the ride, upon reopening, would be renamed Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. From the outset, the decision to close one of Disney’s most legendary attractions was a controversial one. Some fans still hope that, if they sign enough petitions and get angry enough, Disney will reverse its decision.
One of those upset fans recently took to TikTok to voice their frustration — and are being called out for the immature way they chose to do it. TikTok account @countrybearjamboree shared a stitched video where a person is seen talking to a Tiana Funko pop. The person then blames Tiana for Splash Mountain closing, saying, “You ruined Splash Mountain.” They then turned the box around — even though a picture of Tiana was on the back of the box.

Many commenters, like TikToker Professional Idiot, thought it was hilarious/ridiculous that the woman was talking to a toy and blaming it for a ride closing.
Not her beefing with a FUNKO POP and turning it around thinking she did something????
Others pointed out that Splash Mountain was getting a retheme because it is based on the racially-insensitive movie, Song of the South.
I understand if you’re struggling with the nostalgia, but there’s a reason Disney is rethemeing it. There’s no other traces of the film now
Many simply said that they wanted the person to act their age.
Walt Disney himself famously said that Disneyland would never be complete as long as there is imagination left in the world. The same applies to Disneyland. There are iconic rides that we never want to see change. However, as time goes on and audiences change, Disney will keep up with those changes and bring new and exciting rides and attractions to the Parks.
Splash Mountain has already closed in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort. Disneyland’s version of the attraction will close on May 31. Both are expected to reopen in late 2024.
