Tim Allen is a longtime collaborator with The Walt Disney Company. You’ve seen him on-screen as Scott Calvin/Santa Claus in The Santa Clause (1994), The Santa Clause 2 (2002), The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006), and The Santa Clauses on Disney+. You’ve heard his voice as space ranger Buzz Lightyear alongside Tom Hanks as Woody in Pixar’s Toy Story (1995), Toy Story 2 (1999), Toy Story 3 (2010), Toy Story 4 (2019), and a few Toy Story shorts.
But the lovable Home Improvement star lost some fans in the last decade when his latest sitcom, Last Man Standing, pushed political boundaries. The show was rife with conservative ideology, frustrating some lifelong Allen fans.
More recently, Allen took heat for insensitive jokes about the LGBTQIA+ community, mocking President Joe Biden, and supporting former President Donald Trump. Some claimed Disney removed the comedian from Pixar’s latest Toy Story spinoff, Lightyear (2022), because of his political affiliations. Allen denied this claim, as Chris Evans voiced the real-life astronaut that inspired his toy character in the prequel.
The second season of The Santa Clauses premieres on Disney+ on November 20, starring Allen and his daughter Elizabeth Allen Dick. The festive television show sparked fury among religious viewers last year when the elves mistakenly wrote “We Love You Satan” instead of “We Love You Santa.” Though the moment was framed as a joke, some former fans felt the show was indoctrinating children.
Ahead of the show’s release, Allen is under fire once again. On November 11, the Wild Hogs (2007) star tweeted an article from Tablet Magazine claiming that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs are dangerous for Americans – particularly Jews.
“Clear path requires honesty,” Allen wrote.

“People were to be given authority in this new order not in recognition of their gifts, hard work, accomplishments, or contributions to society, but in inverse proportion to the disadvantages their group had suffered, as defined by radical ideologues,” the author, Bari Weiss, claimed. “According to them… ‘Muslim > gay, Black > female, and everybody > the Jews.’”
Weiss argued that DEI is unfair in its push for fairness.
“Of course this new ideology doesn’t come right out and say all that. It doesn’t even like to be named,” he continued. “Some call it wokeness or anti-racism or progressivism or safetyism or critical social justice or identity-Marxism. But whatever term you use, what’s clear is that it has gained power in a conceptual instrument called ‘diversity, equity and inclusion,’ or DEI.”
Some commenters were disappointed with Allen’s political viewpoints.
“I used to really like you, before you joined the tRump supporting MAGATS,” said @LeanneP31884617. “I wouldn’t spend a dime to see your shows!!”

But others commended Allen. A few even encouraged him to run for office.
“Tim Allen for president of the United States of America,” @SyNisT3r57 proclaimed.

Long live Tim Allen
Hell no, I do not support him! If you still support tRump after Jan. 6th, you are aOK with the installationof a right wing dictatorship in this country and I will fight the right wing nutjobs with every available tool at my disposal! I have already disowned 75% of my relatives over this crap, so I will easily disavow any politician or star siding with the attempted coup.
Nobody should be judged, rewarded, or discriminated against based on their race, sex, religion, age, political beliefs, or membership of any group or category that is not in direct vioation of the freedoms laid out in the constitution . . . even if it is done in the name of “justice”, “righting past wrongs”, or “leveling the playing field”. Doing so ignores and tramples all over the rights and sovereignty of the individual, which is the foundation of all real freedom.
