REPORT: Universal Plotting Secret New ‘Harry Potter’ Land Ahead of Reboot

Universal seems to be working on yet another version of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Universal opened its first Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure in 2010, bringing Hogsmeade and Hogwarts Castle to Florida. Diagon Alley followed at Universal Studios Florida in 2014, while versions of Hogsmeade later opened in Japan, Hollywood, and Beijing.

Epic Universe switched things up in 2025 with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic. The land blends 1920s Paris from Fantastic Beasts with the British Ministry of Magic, giving Universal its first Wizarding World not centered on Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley – and it's said to be expanding soon.

Now it seems like it's working on yet another land.

Permits Suggest Another Version of ‘Harry Potter' Land

Harry Potter may finally be heading to Universal’s upcoming UK theme park, with a contractor listing offering some of the strongest evidence yet that the Wizarding World is part of the project. The timing is interesting, too, with Warner Bros. preparing to relaunch the franchise on HBO this Christmas.

Theme park reporter Alicia Stella highlighted the listing on Orlando ParkStop after it appeared in PCL Construction’s project management system under the title “Project 1307 UUKR WWoHP.” “UUKR” appears to reference Universal United Kingdom Resort, while “WWoHP” is commonly used for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

PCL also has a history with the Boy Who Lived. The contractor has worked on Universal’s Wizarding World projects in Orlando, including Hogsmeade and the newer Ministry of Magic land at Epic Universe, making the initials considerably harder to ignore.

The listing did not stay online for long. The references to “UUKR WWoHP” were removed before the page itself was locked from public view. That still falls short of confirmation, however, and Universal has not officially announced Harry Potter – or any other franchise – for Bedford.

Rumors suggest the park – said to span six different themed lands – could receive Hogsmeade, Hogwarts Castle, and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. That would seemingly lean on the established movie-era Wizarding World rather than HBO’s reboot, although there is currently no confirmation of exactly what Universal has planned.

That distinction could become increasingly interesting. HBO’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone premieres this Christmas with a newly designed Hogwarts, fresh costumes, props, and its own visual take on the Wizarding World. The series is intended to adapt Rowling’s books across successive seasons.

Universal United Kingdom Resort, meanwhile, is targeting a 2031 opening. If HBO released a new season roughly every 18 months – as seems likely, based on recent comments – Season 2 (which is already in production, despite reports of script issues) would theoretically arrive in 2028, Season 3 in late 2029, and Season 4 around mid-2031 – putting the reboot well into Harry’s Hogwarts years when the park opens.

Whether that influences Universal’s plans is another matter. There is currently no evidence that Bedford’s rumored Wizarding World will borrow anything from HBO. But a new Harry Potter land opening while an entirely new version of Hogwarts dominates television could leave Universal with an interesting choice over which Wizarding World it wants to build.

Do you think Universal should base its UK Wizarding World of Harry Potter on the original films or the reboot?
