Universal Orlando Cuts Crucial Park Hours Ahead of the Holidays, Starting November 2

Universal Orlando visitors planning a holiday getaway might want to double-check how much time they'll actually have inside the theme parks.

Although November and December bring plenty of opportunities to enjoy festive decorations and nighttime attractions, the resort's operating schedule tells a different story on certain dates. Some parks will close as early as 6 p.m., potentially cutting evenings shorter than families anticipated.

The good news? Those visiting around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve will have more time to explore.

Here's what guests should expect as Universal Orlando Resort prepares for the holiday season.

Halloween Ends, and Shorter Hours Begin

Halloween Horror Nights officially wraps up November 1, ending another season of haunted houses, scare zones, and late-night entertainment.

Starting November 2, Universal Studios Florida returns to its traditional schedule, with several dates featuring a 10 a.m. opening and 7 p.m. closing.

The following hours apply November 2–4, 6–10, 14, 16, 18, and 29, as well as December 3, 10, and 16:

  • Universal Studios Florida: 10 a.m.–7 p.m.
  • Islands of Adventure: 9 a.m.–7 p.m.
  • Epic Universe: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.

That leaves visitors to Universal Studios Florida with 9 hours to experience attractions, enjoy meals, and explore the park.

For guests who prefer spending their evenings enjoying Christmas decorations, the earlier closing times could be frustrating.

And several November dates bring even tighter schedules.

Some Parks Will Close Before 7 P.M.

Universal Orlando's November calendar includes several days when visitors must leave certain parks by 6 p.m.

On November 5, 13, 15, and 20, Islands of Adventure operates from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Universal Studios Florida closes at 7 p.m., while Epic Universe remains open until 8 p.m.

November 12 brings a different schedule:

  • Universal Studios Florida: 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
  • Islands of Adventure: 9 a.m.–7 p.m.
  • Epic Universe: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.

November 17 features another 6 p.m. closing at Islands of Adventure, while Universal Studios Florida and Epic Universe both close at 7 p.m.

On November 19, Epic Universe will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., giving visitors just 9 hours inside the park.

November 11 also features 7 p.m. closing times across all three parks.

These shorter evenings could leave families choosing between enjoying nighttime attractions and fitting in everything else they want to experience.

Fortunately, Thanksgiving week offers a welcome change.

Thanksgiving Week Offers Longer Park Days

Universal Orlando begins extending operating hours as Thanksgiving approaches, giving holiday travelers additional time inside the parks.

On November 21, Universal Studios Florida closes at 8 p.m., Islands of Adventure at 7 p.m., and Epic Universe at 9 p.m.

From November 22–26, the schedule expands:

  • Universal Studios Florida: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
  • Islands of Adventure: 9 a.m.–8 p.m.
  • Epic Universe: 9 a.m.–9 p.m.

November 27–28 brings another adjustment: Islands of Adventure remains open until 9 p.m., while Universal Studios Florida closes at 8 p.m. Epic Universe also closes at 9 p.m.

These extended hours should make it easier for visitors to experience attractions after sunset without feeling as rushed.

Unfortunately, that extra time doesn't continue throughout early December.

December Visitors Should Prepare for Early Closures

Guests visiting November 30 or December 1–2, 4–9, and 11–15 will encounter another stretch of shorter operating days.

During those dates, Universal Studios Florida and Epic Universe operate from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., while Islands of Adventure opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 7 p.m.

December 17–18 brings slightly better news for Epic Universe visitors, with that park remaining open until 9 p.m. Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure still close at 7 p.m.

For anyone hoping to spend their evenings enjoying Christmas lights and festive surroundings, these schedules make planning especially important.

However, the final weeks of December offer a much different experience.

Christmas Week Brings Some of the Longest Hours

Beginning December 19, Universal Orlando Resort will offer longer operating hours.

From December 19–21, all three parks remain open until 9 p.m.

On December 22 and Christmas Day, Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure open at 9 a.m., while Epic Universe opens at 10 a.m. All three close at 9 p.m.

December 26 brings a 10 p.m. closing at Islands of Adventure.

From December 27–30, both Islands of Adventure and Epic Universe remain open until 10 p.m., while Universal Studios Florida closes at 9 p.m.

But New Year's Eve offers the biggest opportunity.

December 31 operating hours:

  • Universal Studios Florida: 9 a.m.–1 a.m.
  • Islands of Adventure: 9 a.m.–1 a.m.
  • Epic Universe: 10 a.m.–midnight

That means guests could enjoy 16 hours at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, compared with just nine hours on several earlier dates.

What This Means for Universal Orlando Visitors

Universal Orlando's holiday schedule shows how much the experience can vary depending on when guests visit.

Families traveling in early November or December may have less time for nighttime attractions, while visitors for Christmas and New Year's Eve can enjoy much longer days.

Before finalizing vacation plans, checking each park's operating hours could help guests avoid unexpected early closures and make better use of their time.
