Report: Universal Orlando Sued After “Dangerous” Situation at Resort

A Universal Orlando Resort fixture has been named in yet another lawsuit.

According to a legal complaint filed on May 8, an alleged incident happened at the Florida theme park destination on May 11, 2024, that left a guest “seriously injured.”

The incident occurred near the exit area leading to the parking garages at Universal CityWalk, the entertainment and dining district connecting guests to Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Epic Universe transportation services.

Plaintiff Heather Hall claims she was injured after falling when a crowd was allegedly allowed to gather on a moving walkway, creating what attorneys described as an “overcrowded and dangerous” situation.

The lawsuit names multiple Universal-related entities alongside Comcast Corp., including NBCUniversal Media, LLC, Universal City Development Partners, Ltd., and Universal City Studios LLC. Attorneys allege the defendants failed to properly maintain the area, warn guests about the alleged hazard, and supervise employees overseeing customer safety.

Court filings further claim the alleged dangerous conditions ā€œwere not apparentā€ to Hall before the fall. The complaint argues the defendants either knew or should have known about the conditions before the incident allegedly occurred.

Hall is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 over alleged bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, medical expenses, lost earnings, and loss of earning capacity.

The lawsuit also includes a derivative claim from her husband, John Hall, tied to the alleged loss of companionship and support.

Another Universal CityWalk Lawsuit

It’s not the first time Universal CityWalk’s walkway has been named in a legal complaint.

A separate 2024 lawsuit also accused Universal Orlando Resort of negligence over an alleged incident involving one of the resort’s moving walkways. Broward County couple Susan and Wayne Moonsie claimed they were injured during an April 2022 visit while riding the walkway leading guests toward the resort entrance.

According to the complaint, the walkway allegedly came to a ā€œsudden and unexpected complete stop,ā€ shaking guests at the time. The lawsuit argued Universal failed to properly maintain and inspect the walkway, with the couple alleging they suffered serious injuries, medical expenses, pain and suffering, and loss of income.

Beyond CityWalk, Universal has faced a string of other lawsuits related to its attractions.

Earlier this year, twin brothers filed lawsuits over alleged injuries sustained on Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry after the attraction allegedly stopped abruptly, throwing them in their seats and causing back, neck, and other injuries.

Multiple lawsuits were also filed in 2025 over the safety of Stardust Racers following the death of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala aboard the Epic Universe roller coaster in September. His family, represented by civil rights attorney Ben Crump, later sued the park. The investigation was ultimately closed and ruled an accidental death.
