Have you seen the newest nighttime spectacular to arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort? Disney Enchantment is the new fireworks show lighting up the night sky at Magic Kingdom park during the 50th anniversary celebration of the Wat Disney World Resort.
Disney Enchantment takes its cues from past Magic Kingdom fireworks shows as it shares a message of believing in magic through the use of classic Disney storytelling. In a change from past shows, Disney Enchantment features immersive projection mapping that stretches down Main Street USA, featuring artwork and sequences from favorite Disney animated films.
To create Disney Enchantment, Disney Imagineers and pyrotechnic teams had to work closely with animators to ensure that sequences from Disney animated films would translate well into the scenes planned for the fireworks show. One such animator, Eric Goldberg, recently visited the Magic Kingdom and saw his work come to life during a showing of Disney Enchantment.
Check out the video below, courtesy of the Disney Parks Blog, to see Goldberg’s reaction to the new fireworks show:
Goldberg was the Walt Disney Animation Studios Animation Director who contributed to a number of hand-drawn animated productions throughout his time with the company. In addition to his work with Disney Enchantment, Goldberg is known for supervising the animation of the Genie in Aladdin (1992) and Pocahontas (1995). During his visit to the Magic Kingdom, Goldberg was able to see Disney Enchantment for the first time with his daughter, making for the heartwarming reaction the Disney Parks Blog caught on camera.
