Construction is moving along on the newest attraction to arrive at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park! Disney just shared a video of the first launch test of TRON Lightcycle / Run, coming soon to Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom. The video also shows some quick interior shots of the loading area for the attraction as well as views of what it will look like to ride under the canopy (we can’t wait to see it lit up at night!)

In the last update from the Walt Disney Imagineering team assigned to the TRON project, fans were just given a first glimpse of the vehicles on the track, so the attraction seems to be getting closer to completion with work moving along quicker than it has in years.

Just prior to the first launch, ride vehicles on the TRON Lightcycle / Run attraction underwent a process called “push/pull,” which you may have seen if you visited the Magic Kingdom recently. During this process, each section of the train could be seen moving slowly along the entire track to test every speed of the ride before working up to the launch. If you visit the Magic Kingdom now, you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse at the new TRON vehicles moving along at full speed!

Disney has not yet announced an opening date for TRON Lightcycle / Run, or for the Walt Disney World Railroad, which has been closed for much of the duration of the TRON construction as the tracks go by the areas where work is being done in Tomorrowland. We did receive an update on the railroad in March, in which Disney shared that maintenance care is still taking place on the trains.
