More COVID-19 testing locations are popping up around the Walt Disney World Resort for use by locals, visitors, and Walt Disney World Cast Members.
Last week, the Walt Disney World Resort opened a COVID-19 testing location exclusively for Disney Cast Members at the resort’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, which is currently closed to Guests due to its annual refurbishment. At this time, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon remains open for Guests looking for a Disney water park experience, while no reopening date for Blizzard Beach or end date for COVID-19 testing at the location has been announced.
For the general public, a new testing site is now open at Walt Disney World by the resort’s Maingate Complex in Kissimmee. The new testing site was created by Osceola County and will be operated through a partnership between local government health organizations and Northshore Clinical Labs which will be conducting the testing.
Since negative COVID-19 test results are required for some types of travel, and since the country is still recovering from the recent Omicron variant surge, the additional testing sites will likely prove helpful for locals and tourists alike.
Testing is available at the site, located at 3020 Maingate Lane in Kissimmee beginning today, January 19, 2022, 8 AM-5 PM, and appointments are required with no walk-up ability available at this time. The site is offering both Rapid Antigen (results in hours) and PCR (results in two-three days) tests, and it should be noted that certain types of tests, typically PCR are required if you are testing in order to be eligible for travel. Click here to make an appointment.
The site will certainly offer added convenience for Disney Cast Members and other area tourism and hospitality workers where they interact with so many Guests on a daily basis, especially since the site has an option to take a rapid test. Additionally, this location can be helpful for Guests planning to depart on a Disney Cruise Line vacation after visiting Disney World as there are testing requirements to board the ships.
