What Were They Thinking? 10 Craziest Guest Moments at Disney World in 2025

Most people head to Disney World to escape reality—to immerse themselves in fairy tales, eat way too many Mickey-shaped snacks, and let the stress of everyday life melt away somewhere between Tomorrowland and Adventureland. But in 2025, the Most Magical Place on Earth has had more than its fair share of guests who completely missed the point.

This year, things have gotten especially wild. From ride disruptions to criminal activity, there’s been an unsettling uptick in guests who’ve treated the parks less like a place to make memories and more like their personal playground for chaos. And while Disney security has seen it all over the years, some of the stories coming out of the parks this year feel like something out of a satirical movie.

Let’s break down the most outrageous guest moments at Disney World so far in 2025—the ones that made fellow guests stare, made Cast Members shake their heads, and in many cases, ended with a trip off property… courtesy of security.

1. A Guest Tried to Scale the Tree of Life

It’s not every day you see someone treating an iconic Disney structure like a rock wall, but that’s exactly what happened this spring. A guest at Animal Kingdom was filmed climbing the Tree of Life like they were competing on American Ninja Warrior. Needless to say, Disney security wasn’t thrilled, and the video quickly made the rounds online.

2. Cocaine Found at the Front Gate

In one of the most jaw-dropping moments of the year, a man trying to enter Magic Kingdom was caught with cocaine hidden in his wallet. He claimed he’d been using it because of job stress—but let’s be real, that excuse didn’t fly. He was arrested and slapped with a Disney-wide ban.

3. Singing in the Fountain (Literally)

At EPCOT, one particularly spirited guest took their patriotic pride to a whole new level. After enjoying a few too many drinks around the World Showcase, they jumped into the fountain at the American Adventure Pavilion and started belting out the national anthem. Security quickly cut their performance short.

4. Monorail Panic After a Bomb Threat

One guest caused a major disruption after making a false bomb threat involving the Disney monorail system. The threat shut down transportation for a while and triggered a full response from law enforcement. Although charges weren’t ultimately filed, the guest still faced consequences—and plenty of shocked looks from fellow visitors.

5. Man Hops Off Tiana’s Ride Mid-Journey

Earlier this month, a man exited his ride vehicle on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and started walking through the ride, supposedly in search of his lost hat. Cast Members had to bring the entire attraction to a stop, frustrating other guests and raising serious safety concerns.

6. Another Family Walks Through the Bayou

As if one unauthorized detour wasn’t enough, a separate guest decided to take their child off the ride and stroll through the attraction—reportedly for over 40 minutes. This kind of behavior isn’t just reckless, it delays everyone else and creates a mess for Cast Members to clean up.

7. Fireworks Viewing Turns into a Felony

When a man from Tennessee couldn’t get a good view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks, he didn’t just grumble like the rest of us—he lashed out and assaulted a Disney security guard. The altercation ended with felony battery charges and a whole lot of regret.

8. Alleged Child Abuse at Disney Hotel

In one of the most unsettling incidents of the year, a guest at a Disney resort was arrested for allegedly strangling a child. The case is ongoing, but reports confirm alcohol played a role in the altercation. Moments like this are a reminder that not all Disney property drama happens inside the parks.

9. Theft at Pop Century Resort

Shoplifting at Disney? It sounds ridiculous, but that’s what happened when a man was caught stealing at Everything Pop—the main shop at Pop Century Resort. Guests saw it all go down as police took him into custody right in the middle of the store.

10. Destruction on Disney Rides

This final one isn’t just a single event—it’s a growing problem. Multiple guests have been caught vandalizing attractions across the parks. From ripping pieces off ride decor to carving initials into surfaces, these acts of damage are making parts of the park almost unrecognizable. It’s not just frustrating—it’s expensive to fix and spoils the magic for everyone else.

The Magic Only Works When Guests Respect It

Here’s the thing: Disney World is supposed to be a shared experience. It only works when everyone buys into the magic. That means following the rules, being kind to Cast Members, and remembering you’re not the only one trying to make the most of their vacation.

Too often, a few bad apples derail the experience for hundreds—if not thousands—of guests. And while viral fame might be tempting for some, the consequences at Disney are very real: bans, arrests, embarrassment, and a whole lot of disappointed looks.

So, if you’re heading to Disney World anytime soon, remember the basics: Stay safe. Be respectful. Don’t climb anything. And maybe, just maybe, keep the national anthem performances out of the fountains.

A frequent visitor of Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort, Andrew will likely be found freefalling on Twilight Zone Tower of Terror or enjoying Pirates of the Caribbean. Over at Universal, he'll be taking in the thrills of the Jurassic World Velocicoaster and Revenge of the Mummy
