Going on a Walt Disney World Resort vacation is always an exciting time. Even if you’ve been a dozen times in the past, planing your trip, and the weeks and months leading up to it, are so fantastic. Then, when you finally get there? Walk down Main Street, U.S.A., and see the castle? Your heart swells, and you breathe in the magic. Now, imagine you are going with someone who has never had a chance to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth. You tell them about all the great rides and delicious food. Then, weeks (or months) later, you tell them that they can no longer go with you, and they’ll have to stay home while you enjoy your time at Disney World.

That sounds terribly mean, doesn’t it? Well, according to one woman, it’s exactly what she did to her stepson.

If you are unfamiliar with the website Reddit, there is a thread on the site where people can go and ask if they were a jerk in a certain situation. The thread is called “Am I the A**hole”. Sometimes the opinions are very divided. Other times, there are no a-holes, just an unfortunate situation. Then, there are times when everyone in the story was in the wrong. Then, there are times when the poster is so in the wrong that people are shocked the person even had to wonder if they were the a-hole.

The following story is one of those “of course you’re an a-hole!” situations.

Redditor u/LiveRepair2040 said that she and her husband were planning a Disney World vacation with their two teenage sons — one son being biologically hers and the other being biologically her husband’s. The trip was going to celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary. The poster’s son is very outgoing, and her husband’s son is very much an introvert. However, her husband’s son was very much looking forward to the trip. The woman’s son, however, did not want to go and miss his girlfriend’s birthday. So, the poster said SHE TOLD HER STEPSON THAT HE COULDN’T GO TO DISNEY WORLD. Instead, he had to stay home with his brother to make sure nothing got out of hand.

AITA for uninviting my stepson from our anniversary trip to DisneyWorld?

To make things worse, the woman said that her stepson was “whining” about not being able to go. Redditors were appalled that she would say he was a “whiner” when her son threw a tatrum, so he didn’t have to go on the trip anymore.

Users were stunned by the woman’s egregious behavior, telling her that she was, without a doubt, a major a-hole. One of those people was u/Ok_Refrigerator1857.

Dude this is horrible. Your son is entitled and so are you. Your son has friends now at 16 but if you’re an adult leaning on your son’s popularity for kudos as a parent I can only imagine his adulthood will fall short. Your husband is pathetic too for allowing your unkindness to his son. Seriously what kind of adult are you for being so hung up on a child not having many friends that you have no respect for them? Wtf? YTA

Veteris71 said that, if the woman was so concerned about her son’s behavior if he was left alone, then she should stay home and let her husband and his son go on the trip.

If they take stepson, OP is sure to make it miserable for him because it’s “unfair”. OP should stay home with her perfect angel, and let husband and stepson go.

Others said that the user so clearly favored her own son, that she would probably blame her stepson if her son did something wrong.

not just punished. she couldn’t parent her son so she’s making her stepson parent him(keeping an eye on his behavior). you know you put your stepson in a lose lose situation. WHEN your son misbehaves your stepson either tells you, making your son mad at him and hurt their relationship or to not tell you and of course you’ll blame him for not stopping it and reporting to you.

There’s no update available, so we don’t know if the OP (original poster) was able to see the serious errors in her judgment. It’s amazing that, while typing out the story, she didn’t realize how wrong she was. Hopefully, her stepson was able to get the dream Disney vacation he deserved.
