You Can Show Support for Ukraine at Walt Disney World – Here’s How

Disney World Ukraine

It is perhaps well-known among our readers that the Walt Disney World Resort has a strict policy of neutrality when it comes to political expression, especially when it comes to its Guests.

Its website states, quite bluntly, that the following acts are prohibited:

  • Unauthorized events, speeches, or use of any flag, banner, sign, or other material for commercial purposes or as part of a demonstration.
  • Unauthorized solicitations of any kind, whether commercial, religious, educational, or otherwise, or conducting any unauthorized commercial activities, including solicitations of money or other contributions or donations.

But we are here to tell you that there is a way that Guests can covertly show their support for the people of Ukraine in their war against The Russian Federation. All they have to do is walk.

A company called The Conqueror Virtual Challenges–which is best known for offering do-on-your-own marathon-style fitness challenges such as running the equivalent distance of wonders and landmarks around the world like Mount Kilimanjaro and Hadrian’s Wall–has unveiled a new challenge in support of the people of Ukraine.

Whether participants decide to walk, run, or a little of both, they will embark on a distance challenge of 36 miles (or 58 kilometers), with 100% of the proceeds going to NGOs “on the ground” in Ukraine.

Walt Disney World is immense, with four theme parks, a shopping and dining center, and scores of other on-property Resorts and activities. Guests have more than ample opportunity to cover some serious distance just by walking.

According to D23, “Round trip from the outpost at the Disney’s Animal Kingdom entrance to Expedition Everest = one mile,” and “A full lap around World Showcase = 1.2 miles.”

This writer, personally, records an average of 8 miles per full Disney Day.

The Conqueror’s challenger app will track your distance, sync with your Apple Watch or Fitbit, and allow you to set your own deadline. Participants will also be able to get access to a street view of their “run” through the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, as well as the surrounding landscape, including the neighboring Holosiivskyi National Natural Park.

The Conqueror states its reason for putting forth this challenge, saying:

A big part of our international team is based in Romania, which borders Ukraine and where there has been a huge mobilisation. The solidarity and support expressed by our community gave us even further inspiration to do more.

By this impactful virtual challenge, we’ll give 100% of proceeds (less bank transfer/platform fees) to charities that deliver much needed aid and provide immediate resources.

We direct all proceeds* received to organizations such as International Red Cross, Save the Children Ukraine. The NGOs we’re donating to are working around the clock to help individuals and families on the ground.
