9. Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen
This more recent addition to the food scene at Adventureland opened near the end of the 2015 year, and like the classic Jungle Cruise attraction on which it was based, this wild new eatery packs in a bold fusion of fun and puns. But diners can satisfy more than just their appetite for humor and witticism, because the robust menu here consists of a vast array of plentiful options featuring fresh fruits and vegetables, sustainable fish, and more healthy choices. While the Jungle Green Salad and Falls Family Falafel both make excellent lighter-side appetizers, some of the entrées to delight in include: Curried Vegetable Stew with coconut rice; Dr. Falls’ Signature Grilled Steak, with Jasmine rice and black beans; Sustainable Fish “Not Piranha” with Chinese broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, and red bell peppers in a lemon grass broth, and Sankuru’s Seafood Stew with shrimp, fish, mussels, and octopus, all simmered in a coconut sauce and served with Jasmine rice. For kids the Serengeti Salad with romaine lettuce, tomato, carrots, broccoli, and cucumber, served with fat-free Italian dressing makes a great appetizer. And for the main meal there are three delicious Mickey Check Meal options—the Tiki Tiki Fishy Grilled Sustainable Fish, with multigrain rice and fruit; the Sizzling Savanna Grilled Flank Steak with steamed broccoli, fingerling potatoes, and fruit, and Smiley’s Little “Croc” of chicken noodle soup with fresh seasonal fruit.
