Moana Steps Up For World Princess Week

Each day of World Princess Week has featured a different Disney princess so far, and today it’s Moana! With everything from a TikTok event to signature desserts, this seafaring princess is in the spotlight, and we’ve got all the details of her celebration. This week is all about focusing on courage and kindness, which Moana has in spades, and she’s the special guest for Aulani Resort’s 10th anniversary! The anniversary event is airing on TikTok tonight at 8 pm ET/ 5 pm PT, and will include hula lessons as well as a glimpse of what else is planned this week.

Another highlight includes the special Moana-themed desserts at Aulani, including the Moana DOLE Whip Fresh Fruit Sundae that involves a waffle bowl of pineapple DOLE Whip with fresh pineapple, sprinkles and a white chocolate image of Moana! Fruit lovers will also be pleased with Little ‘Opihi’s chocolate dipped banana; this snack has macadamia nuts as well as another white chocolate Moana.

The desserts continue at Disney World, with vanilla cupcakes at Capt. Cook’s and Kona Island within Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. These cupcakes aren’t just vanilla, though; they also contain toasted coconut mousse (fitting, since coconuts are a constant theme in Moana’s story), vanilla buttercream, and the white chocolate Moana again. Disney World is also focusing on their O’hana restaurant in that same resort; be sure to try the bread pudding!

Disneyland’s Moana special is not edible, but is no less exciting. The Downtown Disney District’s art gallery is unveiling new Moana art from the “Tales of Courage and Kindness” storybooks, perfect for photo opportunities! Disney’s Cruise Line is also joining in the fun by promoting their upcoming augmented-reality experiences on the Disney Wish. These “Disney Uncharted Adventures” will allow Guests to experience adventures with characters, including Moana! Examples of the planned journeys include “navigating canoes beyond the reef and capturing a hoard of mischievous Kakamora who’ve escaped onto the ship.”

Further abroad at Hong Kong Disneyland, Moana is also getting special treatment in the outdoor musical party called “Follow Your Dreams“, and the resort is highlighting all of the ocean-related references that have been added to the castle! The Shanghai Disney resort is also featuring a music-focused celebration, with a performance by the “Shanghai Angel Autism Salon”. The choir will sing “How Far I’ll Go”, Moana’s signature song, in front of the castle. Moana is also front and center in Mickey’s Storybook Adventure at this resort, and since this is a live performance, it will be even more of a treat for Disney Guests!

Aside from the above offerings, Moana is also being featured in Episode Three of the Courage and Kindness series, which can be found on Youtube.

Disney’s “Moana”, the story of a plucky Polynesian explorer and her spiritual connection to the sea, became a huge success when it was released. The film’s gorgeous animation, humorous characters, and powerful music all combined to make the movie a hit–and Disney was quick to begin incorporating the protagonist, Moana herself, into their merchandise and Parks. While a new ride is on the way and a sequel or series being planned, Moana has already started being a Meet and Greet princess at Aulani Resort, and Disney Guests can always view a Moana sighting as a significant highlight on their trips.

Moana is typically available as a Meet and Greet character, when scheduled, at the Aulani Disney Resort in Hawaii. What do you think of Moana and her story? Are you going to tune into TikTok tonight, and which princess do you think is next to be honored this week?
