Disney: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Getting Christmas Theme

On June 23, Disney Parks announced a slew of plans set for Christmas 2022, which included a lot of exciting stuff, including the return of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. But, there is one new announcement that stood out, and it concerns the Walt Disney World Resort’s newest attraction.

According to Disney Parks Blog,

This season, the Guardians will trade in their classic hits playlist for a mash-up of seasonal jams at Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT. Guests will blast off to the tune of an awesome holiday single, bringing joy to Xandar and Terra, too.

Now, it makes sense that the attraction would get a holiday overlay, considering Director James Gunn and the gang (Chris Pratt, Vin Deisel, Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, and Dave Bautista) are planning The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special for Disney+. But nothing else is known about this retheme at the moment. It could simply be a matter of changing the ride’s soundtrack, or there could be an entirely new pre-show script, and we see Peter Quill/Star-Lord awkwardly try to describe the aspects of Christmas to a bunch of people from other worlds.

Opening Memorial Day Weekend 2022, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a state-of-the-art indoor roller coaster that takes Guests on an adventure through space and time and adds the first extraterrestrial pavilion to EPCOT’s collection. It is also Disney World’s first MCU-based attraction.

Guests can experience the roller coaster by either joining the virtual queue (same-day EPCOT reservation required) or Individual Lightning Lane access.

Disney World describes the coaster on its website as the following:
