The start of 2023 will see yet another Walt Disney World Resort thrill ride briefly close. This time, it is at Disneyâs Animal Kingdom.Â

According to the Disney World website, Animal Kingdomâs water-logged attraction, Kali River Rapids, will close on Monday, January 9, and will be closed through at least Valentineâs Day.
This is a routine seasonal closure for India themed-land adventure, as it closes every winter possibly due to the fact that Guests are not inclined to get soaked during the few weeks out of the year where it is decently chilly in Central Florida.

It is unclear at this time when exactly Kali River Rapids will reopen, but we have no doubt that it will be up and running again just in time to help cool people off in the hot Florida sun.
All other Animal Kingdom attractions, such as Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and Avatar: Flight of Passage, are all still expected to be open for the start of the new year.
Disney World describes Kali River Rapids on its website as the following:

Skim across an erupting geyser, drift below a canopy of lush vegetation and be whisked along fast-moving rapids. Graze gushing waterfalls and bedrock amid the raging current. Then, as the harmony of nature is disrupted, youâll plummet down a dramatic 20-foot slope!
You Will Get Wet
You will surely get splashed on this attractionâand you may even get soaked. Guests wishing to remain dry are encouraged to bring a waterproof poncho, extra clothes or a towel to dry off.
Lockers for mobile devices and other items you want to stay dry are located across from the entrance to Kali River Rapids and are available during your ride (on a first-come, first-served basis).
