There’s no question about it—2025 is shaping up to be a year of major transformations at Walt Disney World. The parks are seeing an unprecedented number of attraction closures, some for temporary refurbishments, others permanently, as Disney makes room for what’s next.
The closures span all four theme parks, from iconic roller coasters to long-standing shows.

Current — and Planned — 2025 Closures at Disney World
In Magic Kingdom, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closed for a year-long refurbishment, while Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Belle Riverboat are expected to close later this year. Disney has also confirmed expansions in Frontierland, involving Cars and Disney Villains. The Hall of Presidents is also undergoing its regular post-election refurbishment.
Hollywood Studios is facing its own set of losses. Muppet*Vision 3D will shut down permanently in June, marking the end of an attraction that has been entertaining guests for decades. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is expected to undergo a major re-theme, removing Aerosmith and replacing the ride’s storyline with something Muppets-related. Meanwhile, Voyage of the Little Mermaid has been closed for years, with Disney promising a new version of the show at some point in 2025.

At Animal Kingdom, the long-rumored overhaul of DinoLand U.S.A. is well underway. Several areas have already shut down as the land prepares for its transformation into Tropical Americas, featuring attractions inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones. DINOSAUR is still operating for now but will eventually close for good. Elsewhere in the park, It’s Tough to Be a Bug! will end its run on March 17 to make way for a new Zootopia-themed show.
EPCOT isn’t immune to closures, either. Test Track is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment, and Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros has been temporarily shut down for maintenance, with a reopening planned for March 15.
Another Closure Added To Disney World's List
Amidst all of these changes, one of Disney’s lesser-discussed but still beloved attractions is also set to close for refurbishment—Winter Summerland Miniature Golf. This uniquely themed mini-golf course, located near Blizzard Beach, will undergo phased refurbishments from April 28 to June 16.

Winter Summerland is split into two 18-hole courses. The Summer Course brings a tropical Christmas twist, with beachy holiday decorations, while the Winter Course offers a snowy, North Pole-inspired setting. The courses will be refurbished one at a time, meaning guests will still be able to enjoy part of the experience during the renovation.
Disney hasn’t shared specifics on what the refurbishment will involve, but it’s likely to include updated scenery, refreshed course elements, and possible new interactive features. With Fantasia Gardens Mini Golf still operating, guests looking for a Disney-themed mini-golf fix will have an alternative option during the refurbishment.
For visitors planning a Disney trip in 2025, these closures will undoubtedly impact itineraries. With so many attractions off the table, it’s more important than ever to check park schedules before visiting. While many of these refurbishments will result in enhanced experiences down the line, navigating the parks this year might require a bit of extra patience.
