Disney World Surprises Fans With Early Opening of Tropical Americas Land

A piece of the new Tropical Americas land has officially arrived at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

At D23 Expo 2024, Disney officially confirmed that a Tropical Americas Land called Pueblo Esperanza would replace the current DinoLand U.S.A. section of the park. The DinoLand U.S.A. area began its transformation in January, with the closure of Chester & Hester’s Dino=Rama, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, the Fossil Fun Games, and TriceraTop Spin, began its transformation in January 2025. DINOSAUR, The Boneyard, and Restaurantosaurus remain open.

Pueblo Esperanza promises two Encanto (2021) attractions, with one based on the magical Casita, home of the Madrigal family, and another that looks to feature a carousel inspired by Antonio’s gift of communicating with animals. It will also feature an Indiana Jones retheme of the current DINOSAUR attraction.

For now, however, Disney Park guests can get a first-hand glimpse of the transformation taking place at Animal Kingdom. Thanks to X (formerly Twitter) user @bioreconstruct, fans can see photos of the Tropical Americas-themed signage already making an appearance on construction walls in the former DinoLand U.S.A. area.

The once-plain construction walls have been adorned with vibrant, Tropical Americas-themed designs, including bright yellow butterflies and artistic blue borders. One of the walls even features a large rendering of Pueblo Esperanza.

Photos from @bioreconstruct show a rare combination of Pueblo Esperanza and DinoLand U.S.A: directional signage pointing guests to the remaining elements of the 26-year-old Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park land: DINOSAUR, the Dino Institute Shop, and Restaurantosaurus.

The timeline for the full completion of Tropical Americas Land remains unclear, with Walt Disney World Resort only confirming that the land will officially open sometime in 2027. DINOSAUR, The Boneyard, and DinoLand U.S.A.’s Quick Service restaurants will remain open through 2025 and close sometime in 2026 for construction.
