Long Waits at Universal: Ride Line Spills Outside Epic Universe, Leaving Guests Stunned!

When Epic Universe opened at Universal Orlando Resort on May 22, 2025, it was poised to be a game-changer. As the newest addition to the resort, the park boasted an impressive lineup of attractions, including SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, and How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk. Anticipation was high, and visitors flooded the gates, eager to explore everything the park had to offer.

However, while the park's rides and themed lands have mostly lived up to expectations, one experience in SUPER NINTENDO WORLD left many guests feeling frustrated and shocked, particularly those waiting in line for Yoshi’s Adventure.

The family-friendly attraction, a whimsical journey through the Mushroom Kingdom, had a line that went far beyond what visitors expected. In fact, it even stretched outside the boundaries of the park, much to the disbelief of many visitors.

The incident was shared by a Reddit user under the name “firstjobtrailblazer,” who documented their experience on the popular platform.

At first, the guest didn’t think much of the wait time; after all, long lines are common at theme parks, especially for popular rides. However, things took an unexpected turn when they were directed to a waiting area outside of Epic Universe.

“I had no idea the line would be this long,” one comment from the OP (Original Poster) read. “It was crazy! We were initially inside the park, but then they moved us outside. We had to wait in an area outside the park’s gates. At least there were fans to keep us cool, but the heat was unbearable.”

The line for Yoshi’s Adventure—an attraction intended to be a fun and lighthearted ride for guests of all ages—became a source of frustration as the queue spilled beyond the park.

It’s not often that guests are forced to wait outside a theme park for a ride, and for many, it felt like a major letdown considering the family-friendly nature of the attraction. Despite efforts to provide fans and cover, the heat and inconvenience took a toll on guest satisfaction.

The frustration didn’t stop there. Other guests chimed in on the Reddit thread, sharing their similar experiences. One guest complained about the design of SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, which they said felt cramped despite the ample space available in Florida.

“It’s not as well-thought-out as it could have been,” the commenter remarked, echoing sentiments that the limited space was causing bottlenecks and overcrowding in the queue areas. Despite its immersive theming, it seemed that the park struggled to accommodate the high demand for attractions.

In the midst of all this, the Yoshi’s Adventure line wasn’t the only one causing issues. Another guest recounted their experience waiting for the Stardust Racers ride, a dual-launch roller coaster in Celestial Park.

They shared that even with an express pass, the wait was just as long as the regular line, and they encountered repeated ride breakdowns while in line.

The line for Stardust Racers is the worst. I waited just as long for Express as the regular line. Once you are forced to put your belongings in a locker, you might think you are close…. Then the line then becomes one blended queue for another 40-50 minutes, express pass or not. It was INSANE!!!! The ride also broke down 6 times in the 2 hours I spent in line.

Though Epic Universe was designed with cutting-edge attractions, it seems that crowd management was not given the same level of attention. Guests love the theming, the immersive experiences, and the ride quality, but they’re also speaking out about how poorly crowds are managed in some areas. Despite the massive success of Epic Universe, many visitors feel that the park was not fully prepared to handle such high traffic in key areas.

Some guests pointed out that it seemed like Universal had not properly planned for the heavy volume of visitors and did not have enough space in the queue areas to handle the demand.

Some even questioned whether Universal could have done more with the space they had, especially since SUPER NINTENDO WORLD in Japan has a similar layout but fewer crowding issues due to the smaller scale of the area. Epic Universe certainly has more room to work with, yet the issue of overcrowding persisted.

Despite these logistical concerns, the majority of visitors still have a positive outlook on the park. Guests praise the detailed theming and immersive worlds, such as the incredibly realistic Wizarding World and the innovative How to Train Your Dragon land. Universal's commitment to creating jaw-dropping attractions is clear.

Still, the experience for some park-goers has been less than ideal, and there’s a growing conversation about whether the park is truly equipped to handle the crowds it attracts.

For now, guests are left to navigate the long waits and crowded spaces, with some wondering if this is just a temporary growing pain or if Universal Orlando Resort will need to make some major changes to Epic Universe's crowd control systems moving forward. Perhaps the park can look to optimize its layout, expand its waiting areas, or rethink how it handles peak hours to make the experience better for visitors in the long term.
