Disney World Locks Out Luxury Guests for Two Weeks, Closure Notice Posted

Guests arriving at one of Walt Disney World Resort’s most exclusive recreational experiences were met with a surprise this week: locked gates and a newly posted closure notice.

As of Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Disney’s Palm Golf Course is officially closed to all Walt Disney World Resort guests. The 18-hole course, known for its “shimmering lakes, tropical sands, and sloping greens,” is undergoing a scheduled aerification process.

Aerification, a routine maintenance measure for golf courses, involves perforating the turf with holes to promote healthier grass through improved water and airflow. This process is crucial to preserving the long-term quality of the grounds, especially in high-traffic areas like Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney’s Palm Golf Course is expected to remain closed through Thursday, August 14, 2025. Operations are scheduled to resume on Friday, August 15. During this time, the resort encourages golfers to visit two other nearby Disney-owned properties: Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course and Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course.

All of Walt Disney World Resort’s golf courses are managed by Arnold Palmer Golf Management, which issued a notice about the two-week pause in play. The statement reads:

“PLEASE NOTE!… Beginning on Monday August 4th, 2025, Disney’s Palm Golf Course will be closed for aerification. It will re-open for play on Friday August 15th. We recommend that you play at either Disney’s Magnolia or Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course during this timeframe as we prepare Disney’s Palm Golf Course for your future enjoyment! We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of this course, and we look forward to welcoming you back to our golf courses again in the near future.”

This latest closure follows the refurbishment of Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course earlier this year. That project introduced redesigned holes called “Grumpy’s Gauntlet.” The course has since reopened and is currently accepting guests.

The Palm Course, completely redesigned in 2013, features 59 bunkers, multiple water hazards, and lush landscaping that attracts both casual golfers and more seasoned players.

Just think…Arnie and Disney? That has to be a pairing that finishes at the top of the leader board.
