Guests Confused as Disney Park Mutes Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel

When Disney builds a new land, expectations run high. The company has long positioned its parks as extensions of its biggest stories, from fairy tales to cinematic universes. For Marvel fans, that meant Avengers Campus—a bold expansion designed to bring superheroes out of theaters and into daily theme park life.

The concept spans continents. At Disney California Adventure in Anaheim and Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris, Avengers Campus opened as a hub for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Visitors can sling webs with Spider-Man, meet Iron Man in person, or wander through an environment where superheroes might appear at any moment.

In Anaheim, the land is still growing. Disney is prepping to add Avengers: Infinity Defense, a ride promising a showdown with King Thanos, and Stark Flight Lab, in which Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark to recruit parkgoers as test subjects. These additions could cement the land as a fan-favorite, though Paris has struggled to keep pace.

Avengers Assemble: Flight Force Struggles to Impress

The most divisive piece of Avengers Campus in Paris is Avengers Assemble: Flight Force. The roller coaster reuses the track and system from the retired Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster but was refitted with a Marvel storyline and updated visuals.

Despite a queue featuring an impressive Iron Man animatronic, the ride itself has been criticized as underwhelming. Guests say it lacks the signature immersion of Disney’s other modern attractions. For some, it is little more than a fast, jarring roller coaster with thin narrative dressing.

Now, a new detail has only added to frustrations. Several guests have pointed out that Captain Marvel, who appears in the preshow, no longer speaks during the experience.

“When Flight Force opened Captain Marvel used to say ‘go left, go, go’ but now it’s been muted,” one guest wrote on Reddit. “You can still see her lips moving to say it. Does anybody know why they muted this?”

Another added: “It hasn’t been playing for a very long time, and it bugs me cause I can’t fathom why it’s been cut.”

Theories among fans suggest the dialogue was pulled after technical issues caused her audio to fall out of sync with her animation. Disney has not confirmed this, leaving visitors uncertain about when the problem will be resolved.

Bigger Changes Ahead in Paris

Addressing Flight Force may not be a top priority for Disney at the moment. Walt Disney Studios Park is undergoing one of the largest transformations in its history, a process intended to broaden the park’s limited lineup.

Earlier this year, a new entrance area called World Premiere debuted, reshaping the park’s arrival experience. Beyond that, sweeping expansions are underway. The World of Frozen is set to open in 2026, alongside rides inspired by Tangled and Up. A massive new lake is also being built, which will host nighttime shows similar to those at Disney California Adventure.

Even further out, a Lion King land is in development, anchored by a flume-style attraction centered on Pride Rock. For now, these projects take precedence, leaving Avengers Assemble: Flight Force to operate in its current state—Captain Marvel silent, and fans still waiting for the ride to live up to the promise of Disney’s Marvel ambitions.
