“You Asked. They Listened.” Guest Complaints Trigger Changes to Disney Park Ride

Most of the time when a self-declared Disney fan complains about a ride at a Disney Theme Park, it is because they care. The opinions are vocalized–or typed–in the hopes of manifesting a needed change through Walt Disney Imagineering’s intervention. Most of the time, fans’ efforts appear to be in vain, but one Disney Parks insider reports that they have been heard and improvements to a still-new ride are on the way.

When Disney Imagineers added a second Marvel Cinematic Universe-themed Avengers Campus at Disneyland Paris Resort’s Walt Disney Studios Park, they decided to retheme the European variant of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith–still found at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World Resort–with Avengers Assemble: Flight Force. This is a high-speed indoor coaster starring Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and Tony Stark/Iron Man.

Disney Fanatic reported last summer that Imagineers were rumored to already be planning on closing the attraction due to fans’ criticism, and if anything was done, those changes still were not enough.

According to Disneyland Paris Insider, @DLPReport, Avengers Assemble Flight Force will close once again for improvements later this year:

“You asked. They listened. Get ready for more show lights coming your way, starting this spring!”

The Insider also reported, “The work won’t impede operations as the attraction will remain open during the day.” This suggests that Disney Park Guests will most likely get to see the change in real-time as the days go by.

Approving fans commented on the news in English and French, stating that corners were cut building the entire new land. As one fan said, “The whole Avengers land needs “upgrades” just because it’s a massive improvement on what it’s replaced, doesn’t make it any good.”

Another fan chimed in to say that the state of Flight Force and Avengers Campus as a whole is just more of the same for Walt Disney Studios Park.

The fan said,

“How embarrassing. WDS park needs re-doing cause they went cheap from the beggining. Going back and fix it cost extra money (more than it would’ve been to do a proper park). Avengers Campus, our first WDS expansion, repeats history. Cheap and the beginning, extra money to fix it.”

It should be noted that while the Marvel Avengers addition to Walt Disney Studios was announced before the Pandemic, a majority of the construction and opening was facilitated under the leadership of former Disney CEO Bob Chapek, a man whose legacy will most likely be paired with an overall degraded Theme Park experience by Guests.

But the future still looks bright for Walt Disney Studios Park. On top of these reported fixes, a massive expansion is currently underway that will include a Frozen-themed land and eventually the third Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

It is unclear at this time just when the latest improvements to Avengers Assemble: Flight Force will begin.
