In July, Muppet fans were devastated when Disney World officially shuttered Muppet*Vision 3D at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The long-standing show, along with the rest of Grand Avenue, has been removed to make way for a new Monsters, Inc.-themed land. While that's exciting news, for fans of Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Gonzo, it still isn't enough to remedy the heartache.
Fortunately, there is some light at the end of the tunnel for those parkgoers, as Kermit himself announced that, next year, Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney's Hollywood Studios will be given a full Muppets makeover.

It's a sure sign that Disney isn't planning to do away with the Muppets anytime soon. But now, it seems Kermit, Gonzo, Miss Piggy, and Fozzie Bear are already taking over another corner of the Disney empire in true Muppet style: the Marvel Universe.
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Muppets, and to celebrate, Kermit and all your other felt-covered, fan-favorite characters are set to star in a set of 10 variant covers on select Marvel comic books releasing this October, which pay homage to iconic covers throughout Marvel Comics history.

Spider-Man, Silver Surfer, the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and even Thanos had better watch out – Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Sam Eagle, Swedish Chef, and more are taking over! You can check out all the cover art at Marvel Comics.
The Muppets Live on Beyond 3D Show Closure
Muppet*Vision 3D was one of the most beloved shows at Walt Disney World Resort and it will be sorely missed. However, that's not the end of the Muppets — far from it.

Not only are they already taking over Marvel Comics and will soon return for Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster, but the beloved 1992 classic The Muppet Christmas Carol is returning to the big screen in front of a live orchestra in the U.K. this winter, for the fifth year in a row.
The Muppet Christmas Carol lives on beyond the original 1992 film in many ways, and perhaps it's only a matter of time before it gets a theme park presence itself. As for the wider franchise, for now, seeing them bump Marvel's heroes and Aerosmith out of the spotlight will likely reassure many fans that Jim Henson's creations aren't going anywhere.
Are you glad that the Muppets aren't going anywhere? Let us know your thoughts!
