The Jurassic World franchise isn’t going extinct anytime soon. On the big screen, Jurassic World Rebirth has been a massive financial success, pulling in $865.6 million worldwide. Scarlett Johansson’s covert operative Zora Bennett gave the series a new lead, while director Gareth Edwards delivered his signature scale. But beneath the box office hit lies a creative retcon: the movie rewrites the aftermath of 2022's Jurassic World Dominion.
Dominion partly focused on dinosaurs adapting to a modern world, coexisting — and clashing — with humanity. But Rebirth completely abandons that idea, explaining that the prehistoric creatures are dying out because today’s environment can’t sustain them. For some fans, this reset felt like the franchise walking back its boldest development, and reviews have reflected that disappointment.

Meanwhile, television is taking the opposite approach. Netflix’s Jurassic World: Chaos Theory has steadily built its reputation as a legitimate extension of the canon. Season 4, which arrives November 20, will bring the “Nublar Six” into Biosyn Valley, a key location last seen in Dominion. A new trailer for the upcoming final season hints at high-stakes survival and even teases some memorable moments from the 2022 film. Watch it below:

The animated shows — including five seasons of Camp Cretaceous — have not only introduced new characters but also bridged gaps in continuity, weaving in characters like Soyona Santos and nods to Owen Grady.
Now, fans are speculating whether classic figures such as Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm might appear before the finale closes the book on this chapter.

Outside of film and TV, Universal is doubling down on interactivity. October brings “Jurassic World Evolution 3”, letting players manage dinosaur parks in places like Hawaii and Japan. Also on the horizon is “Jurassic Park: Survival”, a first-person action-adventure game promising a more immersive spin on the original 1993 film.
Whether you preferred Dominion’s global dinosaur chaos or Rebirth’s scaled-back approach, the series clearly has no shortage of directions left to explore.
Meanwhile, Chaos Theory’s finale may not just be the end of another Jurassic era — it could signal where the franchise goes next.
