The Walt Disney World Resort is set to bring permanent updates to several of its signature attractions, blending familiar stories with modern technology across EPCOT and Magic Kingdom. Each project is designed to refine the guest experience while maintaining the spirit of the originals.
At Magic Kingdom, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closed on August 4, 2025, for a significant refurbishment. Returning in 2026, the Tomorrowland ride will feature upgraded ride vehicles with live scoring screens, improved laser blasters, and a new interactive companion named Buddy. This character will assist with safety instructions and help guide guests through the mission. Since its debut in 1998, Space Ranger Spin has been a mainstay for visitors, and these updates will ensure the attraction remains engaging for a new generation.

EPCOT’s Norway Pavilion will also see major changes with Frozen Ever After scheduled for a technological refresh in early 2026. The animatronic figures of Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff will be replaced with advanced versions inspired by Hong Kong Disneyland’s World of Frozen.
The new figures will offer fully sculpted faces and improved movement systems, providing smoother, more natural performances compared with the original projection-mapped faces. While the fate of characters like Olaf and Sven is still unconfirmed, the refurbishment aims to modernize the attraction without changing its core story. The new version of the ride will join other Frozen experiences worldwide, including Tokyo DisneySea and Disneyland Paris.

Meanwhile, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT’s France Pavilion will close for a brief update from November 10 through November 13, 2025. The 3D projection system will be replaced by new 2D digital visuals, improving image clarity and addressing past reports of motion discomfort. Guests will also notice updates to the ride’s queue and environment, including refreshed props, improved lighting, and additional thematic touches, while the story—following Remy on a culinary chase through Gusteau’s—remains unchanged.
Collectively, these projects demonstrate Walt Disney Imagineering’s ongoing effort to refresh attractions while respecting their history. From enhanced animatronics to updated visuals and interactive elements, Disney continues to offer experiences that feel familiar yet renewed.
