Disney’s ‘Toy Story’ Attraction is Closing—Here’s What You Need to Know!

Disneyland Paris has confirmed a major refurbishment for its beloved Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast attraction, which began its closure on June 23, 2025. The extensive work on the popular ride is slated for completion by the end of 2025, marking a significant overhaul that promises to deliver a refreshed experience for guests.

The decision to close the attraction for updates follows long-standing fan feedback regarding the ride’s need for improvement. With fans voicing concerns over the ride’s condition, this major renovation is sure to be a welcome change for many.

Key Updates to the Attraction

A host of improvements are expected as part of the extensive refurbishment, which will focus on multiple aspects of the attraction:

  • Facade Revitalization: The iconic exterior, including the energy-collecting towers, futuristic pillars, and the towering Buzz Lightyear statue, will all undergo a fresh coat of paint. Additionally, the neon lighting on the towers and radar dishes will be upgraded for more vibrant and striking illumination.
  • Vehicle and Technology Enhancements: As part of the improvements, the attraction’s Astro Blasters will be completely replaced. New dashboards with enhanced displays will also be added to the ride vehicles, bringing a modern touch to the experience.

  • Lighting Overhaul: Inside the attraction, a complete lighting overhaul will take place, replacing spotlights and updating special lighting effects. In addition, some of the in-ride targets, which guests use to score points in their battle against Zurg, will be swapped out with more accurate and reliable ones for improved gameplay.
  • Audio-Animatronics Restoration: Several of the Audio-Animatronics figures will also be restored as part of the renovation. This is expected to improve the ride’s immersive atmosphere and ensure that the experience continues to meet the high standards set by Disney’s attractions.

When Can Guests Expect the Attraction to Reopen?

While Disneyland Paris has yet to announce an official reopening date, the company has reassured guests that the revamped Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast will offer an enhanced experience once it returns. Visitors planning their trips to the park in the coming months should prepare for this extended closure as they await the attraction’s grand return.
