More than four years after No Time to Die brought Daniel Craig’s version of James Bond to a literal explosive end, it appears the character’s death is still haunting the franchise.
According to a report from Radar Online, Amazon executives are reportedly “tearing their hair out” trying to figure out how to continue the story in their upcoming movie reboot. As one source close to productions puts it, “Bond didn’t just vanish off a cliff or fake his death – he was blown to pieces on screen,” adding that everyone agrees it was “a massive mistake because Bond is supposed to be eternal.”

The alleged behind-the-scenes confusion comes as Amazon MGM prepares to relaunch the series under Dune director Denis Villeneuve, with Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight penning the script. It has been heavily implied that the project is a complete reboot — a blank slate, with an all-new actor stepping into the role of 007.
Yet this report suggests that the studio might still be wrestling with how to reconcile the reboot with Craig’s definitive ending.
Historically, James Bond timelines have always been murky. Sean Connery’s portrayal stretched across six films, with George Lazenby briefly replacing him before he returned again. Later, Judi Dench played M across both the Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig eras, suggesting a loose continuity.

Now, that ambiguity might be catching up to the franchise. If Amazon’s creative team is indeed exploring a continuation rather than a hard reset, resurrecting Bond would pose a serious narrative challenge — and risk undoing one of the most emotional conclusions in franchise history.
Whether the studio ultimately chooses to wipe the slate clean or find a way to explain Bond’s survival, one thing is clear: his death in No Time to Die has left more than just audiences divided — it’s left the entire franchise in a state of existential limbo.
