Disney faces steady pressure from Marvel fans, and much of that frustration stems from how the studio has handled several MCU characters since taking complete control of the franchise.
Disney rewrote some in ways that didn’t connect, introduced others only to let them disappear, and pushed aside characters who were clearly meant for bigger things. Fans aren’t calling for a complete reset—they just want these characters to return and finally receive the treatment they deserve.

Marvel’s Expanding Future
Marvel stands on the edge of a vast new chapter. Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) will soon step into the spotlight, fresh teams are forming, and the MCU looks ready to push into more cosmic and multiversal territory. Bringing back characters who never got a fair chance would make that future stronger. These seven additions could help fill significant gaps and energize the next steps.

The Mandarin
Fans appreciated Marvel’s twist years ago, but the desire for the real Mandarin never faded. Wenwu (Tony Leung Chiu-wai) offered depth and charisma in Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), yet he wasn’t the comic-accurate Mandarin fans expected.
The actual version commands the Ten Rings, carries a ruthless strategic mind, and brings an intimidating presence that shifts the hierarchy of power. His abilities unlock massive storytelling potential, especially with Doctor Doom on the rise. Choosing to reveal the authentic Mandarin would instantly expand Marvel’s cosmic scope.

Taskmaster
Taskmaster’s (Olga Kurylenko) appearance in Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) surprised fans, but not in the way Marvel intended. Disney removed the character’s wit, personality, and confidence—the traits that made the comic version stand out.
The classic Taskmaster can mimic nearly any fighting style with photographic reflexes, turning this villain into a nightmare matchup for almost any Avenger. Reintroducing a faithful version would bring new energy to Marvel’s grounded stories and finally deliver the character fans have been expecting.
The Eternals
Marvel introduced a team overflowing with cosmic power in Eternals, then stepped away without revisiting their huge storyline. Characters like Sersi (Gemma Chan), Thena (Angelina Jolie), Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), and Druig (Barry Keoghan) each offered something unique, and the Celestial connection remains one of Marvel’s biggest unanswered threads.
Fans still want to know what happened after Arishem’s arrival and why the missing Eternals disappeared. Bringing them back would restore a sense of scale that the MCU desperately needs.

Dar-Benn
The Marvels moved quickly, and Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton) never had the room to evolve into the imposing villain she could have become. Her motives made sense, and her powers were strong, yet the story didn’t give her enough time to make an impact. A Variant could easily fix that. Her energy-based abilities open up plenty of opportunities for future conflict, and a more developed version could bring real depth to Marvel’s cosmic lineup.
Monica Rambeau
Monica Rambeau’s (Teyonah Parris) abilities make her one of Marvel’s most powerful new heroes, but Disney hasn’t given her an actual moment to lead. She gained her powers in WandaVision and then stepped into another supporting role in The Marvels. Fans want to see her take charge, showcase her energy manipulation, and step confidently into the following Avengers lineup. A more substantial presence from Monica would benefit the MCU immediately.

America Chavez
America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) possesses one of the most significant powers in the MCU—her star-shaped portals enable her to travel across the entire Multiverse. Her debut set her up as a vital piece of Marvel’s direction, but she slipped into the background afterward. Fans want her to grow, train, and take a central role in the Multiverse Saga. She brings something no one else can, and the MCU needs her abilities now more than ever.

Quicksilver
Quicksilver’s (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) quick exit remains one of the most disappointing choices under Disney’s oversight. His speed, instincts, and personality barely had a chance to flourish before he was written out of the story. The Multiverse gives Marvel an easy opportunity to bring him back and let him reach his full potential. Fans still talk about him, and that enthusiasm hasn’t faded.
Why Their Return Matters
Each character brings something distinct—power, emotion, personality, or narrative weight—and the MCU needs all of that as it prepares for Doctor Doom and the next Avengers era. Their return would fill long-standing gaps and help strengthen team dynamics that currently feel incomplete. Marvel doesn’t need to start over; it just needs to pick up the threads it dropped.

The MCU’s Next Big Step
Fans haven’t forgotten these seven characters, and their continued interest demonstrates the potential that was left untapped. If Marvel brings even a few of them back, the franchise could regain momentum, restore excitement, and set the stage for a more prosperous, more complete future. With bigger threats coming and a new phase forming, now is the perfect time for Marvel to revisit the characters who never got the chance to shine.
