The holiday rush is in full swing at Walt Disney World, and EPCOT has transformed into one of the busiest corners of the entire resort. Thanks to the Festival of the Holidays and a huge wave of seasonal entertainment, guests are hopping from one offering to the next, often stumbling onto new surprises—including some they weren’t expecting.
One of the biggest surprises this week has involved Living with the Land, a ride that rarely dominates headlines but has become a seasonal sensation thanks to the Glimmering Greenhouses overlay. On Sunday, crowds packed the queue so tightly that the attraction hit an astonishing 85-minute wait time. For a slow-moving agricultural boat ride, that number almost doesn’t sound real.

But this popularity boom arrived at a tricky moment. The attraction has experienced more downtime than usual lately, with a couple of moments even making the internet rounds after guests filmed boats partially sinking. Those clips generated plenty of chatter, but Monday, December 8 delivered something even more unusual.
Disney Sends Out a Formal Notification
Guests checking their phones were suddenly greeted with an official in-app alert—something Disney typically reserves for parkwide issues, major outages, or logistical impacts. Seeing a message solely focused on one EPCOT attraction caught fans off guard.
The full statement read:
**“Pardon the Inconvenience
On behalf of the entire team at EPCOT, I’d like to apologize that Living with the Land is currently unavailable. Our Cast Members are working diligently to get the attraction up and running again, and we are sorry you are not able to experience this attraction at this time. I hope you will enjoy some of our other attractions during your experience in the park today.Matt Simon
Vice President, EPCOT”**
The direct, personalized tone—paired with the signature—made the alert feel far more serious than a typical downtime notice.
The Attraction Has Reopened… For Now
As of now, Living with the Land is operating again, and guests are once more lining up for the glowing greenhouse scenes that make the holiday version so beloved. But based on the last several weeks, there’s a real possibility the ride could dip into downtime again.
High demand, heavier traffic, and the seasonal overlay usually create more operational wear and tear—factors that sometimes lead to unpredictable closures.

A Holiday Favorite Under Pressure
Even with the occasional pause, Living with the Land remains one of EPCOT’s most unique holiday offerings. Its mix of gentle storytelling and festive displays has earned it a quiet cult following this time of year, and many guests plan their evening around that cozy, illuminated cruise.
But as Disney’s rare alert shows, the attraction may be in a delicate stretch. And with the season’s largest crowds still ahead, EPCOT fans will be keeping a close eye on whether this unexpected trend continues.
