‘Jurassic Park’ (1993) Reimagining Brings Back Legacy Actors

Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum have stepped back into Jurassic Park—this time for a Super Bowl ad. The trio reprise their roles as Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm, respectively, in Xfinity’s Big Game commercial titled Jurassic Park … Works (Extended), ahead of the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 8.

The ad revisits Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic but flips the premise on its head. Instead of catastrophic system failures and rampaging dinosaurs, the commercial imagines a version of Jurassic Park where everything actually runs as intended. Watch the new ad below:

The spot recreates several well-known moments from the original film, including the T. rex breakout and the Gallimimus stampede. However, the ad leans heavily into comedy, showing scenarios that suggest the park operates safely under controlled conditions.

One sequence shows Ellie jogging alongside Gallimimus, while Malcolm delivers a comedic twist on one of his most quoted lines while relaxing poolside, marveling at “one big pile of shrimp.” The commercial also digitally de-ages Neill, Dern, and Goldblum, blending their newly filmed material with archival footage from Jurassic Park.

There are also unaltered scenes featuring Richard Attenborough’s John Hammond and Samuel L. Jackson’s Ray Arnold.

The official caption accompanying the video reads: “Thanks to Xfinity, Jurassic Park at long last, uh, finds a way. With the help of Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum.”

The Jurassic Park Legacy Continues To Evolve

The three actors most recently appeared together in an official capacity in Jurassic World Dominion (2022), which concluded the Jurassic World trilogy. The franchise later continued with Jurassic World Rebirth (2025), starring Scarlett Johansson and introducing a new cast and storyline set on a separate island.

Although the future involvement of the legacy cast remains unclear, Goldblum has continued contributing to the franchise by lending his voice to the Jurassic World Evolution video game series. Meanwhile, the upcoming video game Jurassic Park: Survival is set just 24 hours after the events of the 1993 film, which has fueled fan speculation about possible character appearances.

Since launching in 1993, the seven-film Jurassic Park series has generated nearly $7 billion worldwide. Unsurprisingly, new reports suggest Universal is considering an eighth installment that could reunite Rebirth director Gareth Edwards with Johansson.

The Super Bowl is on this Sunday, February 8.
