A contractor’s building materials sent five Disneyland Resort cast members to the hospital on Tuesday and forced a sudden, widespread shutdown of much of Tomorrowland, including two of its most popular attractions.
Evacuations Spread Across Tomorrowland

The situation developed quickly on March 10. Guests inside Space Mountain and Star Tours – The Adventures Continue found themselves being evacuated through backstage corridors as Disney cast members moved to clear the surrounding area.
WDWNT reported the closures in real time, sharing this photo of Disney employees stationed outside Star Traders blocking guests from entering the store. Additional cast members were positioned at entry points from Main Street, U.S.A., Fantasyland, and other neighboring sections of Disneyland Park, effectively sealing off the affected zone.
The fallout extended well beyond the two rides. Outdoor areas adjacent to Space Mountain, Star Tours, Alien Pizza Planet, and the Tomorrowland Theater were all cleared of guests. The Space Mountain bathrooms closed, the top of Star Wars Launch Bay was shut down, and at least one “Celebrate Happy Cavalcade” performance was cancelled mid-day.
Astro Orbiter, Autopia, Finding Nemo’s Submarine Voyage, the Galactic Grill, and the Little Green Men Store Command stayed open and operational throughout the incident.

Theme park journalist Scott Gustin obtained an official statement from Disneyland Resort that clarified the cause:
Building materials used by a contractor triggered a reaction backstage at Disneyland. Several cast members were treated on site by paramedics and released, while 5 experiencing dizziness and shortness of breath were taken to local hospitals.
