Disney Quietly Begins Second Muppets Land Expansion at Hollywood Studios

The Muppets continue to make their mark on Disney's Hollywood Studios, and another construction project is now underway just months after their newest attraction officially opened.

Disney has closed the restrooms adjacent to Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets for refurbishment, creating what many fans see as the second significant project connected to the growing Muppets presence in the park.

Officially, Disney has only called the work a refurbishment. Unofficially, it's already fueling plenty of speculation.

Another Project Joins the Muppets Area

Guests walking through Sunset Boulevard will immediately notice that the nearby restroom entrance has disappeared behind rows of construction planters. A custom map directs visitors to alternate facilities elsewhere in the park while work continues.

Disney hasn't revealed exactly what's changing inside, nor has it provided a completion date.

Still, the project's location has become the bigger story.

Only a short time ago, Disney unveiled Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, giving the beloved characters one of the park's headline attractions. Rather than shifting attention elsewhere, construction has now returned to the same corner of Hollywood Studios.

That has naturally led fans to wonder whether Disney is gradually building something larger.

More Than Just One Attraction?

We've long believed Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster might not be the only permanent Muppet-themed addition guests eventually see in this section of the park.

The coaster already establishes the area's identity, but much of the surrounding infrastructure still reflects its previous appearance. Restrooms, food locations, merchandise spaces, and even landscaping could eventually receive updates that better connect everything together.

Disney has used this incremental strategy before.

Instead of unveiling an entirely new land at once, the company has often improved areas piece by piece, allowing the guest experience to evolve naturally over several years.

That's one reason this restroom project has generated so much attention.

A Chance to Add Personality

Realistically, guests shouldn't expect an elaborate attraction hidden behind the construction walls.

However, that doesn't mean the finished project has to remain generic.

Disney could easily incorporate Muppet-inspired colors, humorous signage, themed posters, music, or visual gags throughout the facility. Those kinds of additions would fit perfectly with the attraction next door while giving the area a stronger overall identity.

The Muppets have always thrived on visual comedy and unexpected jokes, making even a restroom queue an opportunity for Imagineering to have some fun.

Whether Disney chooses to do that is another question entirely.

Watching What Comes Next

At the moment, there is no evidence that Disney is officially expanding Muppets Land beyond Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster.

Everything beyond the announced restroom refurbishment remains speculation.

Still, timing matters.

Launching another construction project in the same area only months after opening the coaster suggests Disney continues to pay attention to this section of Hollywood Studios. Even if the refurbishment only modernizes guest facilities, it demonstrates that the area hasn't been forgotten after the attraction's debut.

For fans hoping the Muppets eventually become a larger presence within Disney's Hollywood Studios, that's an encouraging sign.

The construction walls won't stay up forever, and when they finally come down, guests will get their first look at whether Disney simply refreshed an aging restroom—or quietly took another step toward building a more complete Muppets-themed destination.
