Universal Pulls Popular Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass Ahead of 2026 Event

Halloween Horror Nights fans preparing for this year's event will need to rethink their ticket strategy after Universal Orlando confirmed the removal of one of its most popular premium products.

The resort has officially discontinued every Fear with Express Pass offering before Halloween Horror Nights 35 begins, eliminating the bundled multi-night tickets that combined repeated admission with Express access.

While other multi-night Fear passes will still be offered, guests hoping to pair those visits with shorter wait times will now have to purchase Express separately.

It's a notable shift for one of Universal Orlando's biggest annual events.

Universal makes a surprising ticket change

In announcing the decision, Universal said:

As we continue to evaluate our offerings in an effort to provide the best Halloween Horror Nights experience for all Guests, we have discontinued all Fear with Express Pass products. Other Fear pass options will go on sale soon.”

Although the statement was concise, it immediately caught the attention of Halloween Horror Nights fans who have relied on the bundled ticket option for years.

Universal did not explain exactly why the products were removed, nor did it announce a replacement.

Instead, the company simply confirmed that other Fear pass options will become available in the near future.

Express has never been more valuable

Halloween Horror Nights has evolved into one of the most in-demand seasonal events in the country.

With increasingly elaborate haunted houses, blockbuster intellectual properties, original stories, and returning entertainment, attendance has continued to climb.

That popularity has also made Express Passes more valuable than ever.

On many event nights, guests without Express can encounter waits well over 90 minutes for the most popular houses, while the biggest weekends often see two-hour queues become common.

Because of that, Fear with Express passes became a favorite purchase for repeat visitors who wanted to experience the event several times without spending much of the evening waiting in line.

A different planning strategy for 2026

The removal of bundled Express products doesn't mean guests can no longer purchase Express.

Instead, the buying process changes.

Visitors planning multiple nights can still purchase a Fear pass once sales begin, but Express will now need to be added separately whenever available.

That could make planning more complicated, particularly during busy weekends when Express inventory traditionally disappears quickly.

Guests who previously enjoyed the convenience of buying one ticket package now face additional decisions about which nights deserve the extra expense of Express access.

Demand may have influenced the move

Universal has only said the change was made while evaluating its offerings to improve the overall guest experience.

Still, it's easy to see why the company may have revisited the program.

Halloween Horror Nights has grown substantially over the last decade, and Express demand has followed the same trend.

Selling Express separately allows Universal greater control over nightly inventory, potentially helping distribute availability across more guests instead of allocating significant capacity through multi-night packages.

Whether that ultimately improves the experience remains to be seen, but fans will certainly be watching how ticket sales unfold over the coming weeks.

Another massive year awaits

Even without Fear with Express, excitement surrounding Halloween Horror Nights 35 continues to build.

The event returns on select nights between August 28 and November 1 with one of the strongest announced lineups in years.

Guests will enter haunted houses inspired by Stranger Things, Hellraiser, and Sinners, alongside original creations including Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control, Cybergoria, INVASION: Alien Abduction, MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals, and H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular!

Universal has also announced Infernal Carnival of Nightmares and Sideshow of Decay as this year's scare zones, while Nightmare Fuel: Blood Noir and a new Stranger Things live show round out the entertainment lineup.

Additional announcements are still expected before opening night.

Fans will be watching closely

The elimination of Fear with Express may only affect one ticket product, but it represents a meaningful change for some of Halloween Horror Nights' most loyal visitors.

Whether Universal eventually introduces a replacement or simply continues selling admission and Express separately remains unknown.

For now, guests planning to attend multiple nights should prepare for a different purchasing process than in previous years and keep a close watch for the remaining Fear pass options when they become available.

As Halloween Horror Nights 35 approaches, Universal is making it clear that even longtime traditions aren't guaranteed to return unchanged.
