Parents Warned: Universal Security Guard Caught Snapping Photos of Minors in Epic Universe

Most parents probably aren't paying much attention to security guards as they walk out of a roller coaster. They're finding their family, checking wait times, or figuring out where everyone wants to go next.

One family at Epic Universe says they had a reason to start paying attention.

After exiting one of the park's major attractions, a guest noticed a security guard's behavior that made them uncomfortable. They watched for several minutes before deciding they needed to ask employees what was happening.

They didn't immediately get an answer that settled their concerns. Eventually, the family took the situation to other employees, who reportedly agreed it warranted a closer look.

The Family Noticed What Was Happening Near the Exit

The encounter reportedly unfolded near the exit of Stardust Racers.

The guest said a security guard appeared to be using an iPhone to photograph people in the area. According to their account, he photographed numerous guests, including younger children and the guest's minor daughter.

The family initially watched rather than immediately confronting anyone.

According to the guest, the guard continued taking pictures as people moved through the area. They also claimed he appeared to photograph a woman holding a young child several times while she waited for someone to exit the attraction.

Eventually, the guest approached an employee near the ride and asked why the photographs were being taken.

That's when the situation became more confusing.

Their First Question Didn't Settle Anything

According to the guest, the employee said the security guard wasn't taking photographs and referenced a medical emergency.

The family didn't believe that explanation matched what they were seeing.

The guest said their partner later walked behind the security guard to make sure they hadn't misunderstood what he was doing. According to their account, the partner believed the guard was photographing people in the area.

The family eventually walked away, but the encounter continued bothering them.

Rather than dismissing their concern, they approached employees at a booth near the attraction and asked whether the photography could be part of a normal Universal procedure.

According to the guest, those employees said they hadn't heard of security using an iPhone to photograph guests leaving an attraction.

The family also expressed concern that photographs of their minor daughter could be on the device.

Employees reportedly opened a ticket or report and collected the family's email address and phone number for possible follow-up.

There May Be Another Explanation

The family's account raises questions, but it doesn't establish that the security guard did anything inappropriate.

There are situations where employees may need to document an area.

Following an incident, photographs could help show conditions around a particular location or how guests move through it. Parks could also use photographs when considering operational issues involving crowd flow, employee positioning, equipment placement, or security arrangements.

In a busy theme park, those photographs could naturally include guests.

However, none of those possibilities has been confirmed as the explanation for what this family reportedly witnessed near Stardust Racers.

Without additional information, assuming either wrongdoing or a routine operational explanation would go beyond what's known.

Small Details Could Help Universal Investigate

That's also why documenting an unusual encounter can make a difference.

Guests don't need to investigate a situation themselves. Instead, they can remember basic details and share them with an employee or Guest Services.

An approximate time can be particularly useful. Even noting that something happened around 2:15 p.m. rather than simply “in the afternoon” gives employees a more specific window to examine.

The location, employee description, length of the encounter, and exactly what someone personally witnessed can also provide helpful context.

If an employee can't explain what's happening, guests can ask where to report their concern formally.

Parents Can Ask Questions Without Making Accusations

There is still no confirmed explanation for why the security guard was allegedly photographing people near Stardust Racers.

That distinction matters.

The family reported what they believed they witnessed, and Universal employees reportedly created a report. That allows the park to determine whether there was a normal reason for the photography or whether the situation requires additional attention.

For parents, the takeaway doesn't have to be that every unusual interaction signals a problem.

Instead, it's a reminder that guests can speak up when something makes them uncomfortable. Asking a question or filing a report doesn't mean declaring someone guilty of wrongdoing.

Sometimes, it simply gives the park a chance to look into something that might otherwise never receive attention.
