‘Wednesday’ Season 3 Finishes Filming as Netflix Shoots for 2027 Streaming Slate

The wait for Wednesday Season 3 is far from over, but Netflix just crossed one of the biggest items off the list.

After spending most of 2026 in production, the next season of the hit series has officially finished filming. That puts Wednesday Addams one major step closer to returning to Netflix, even though plenty of work remains before the new episodes are ready.

The timing is particularly interesting because Season 2 left several characters in uncertain territory. Between Enid’s transformation, Tyler’s survival, and a new Addams family mystery, Season 3 already has plenty waiting for Wednesday when she returns.

Cameras Have Officially Stopped Rolling

Netflix has confirmed that filming for Wednesday Season 3 is complete.

Production started near Dublin in February 2026 and lasted roughly seven months before wrapping in late September. To mark the milestone, Netflix shared another look at Jenna Ortega as Wednesday, once again sitting behind her familiar typewriter.

Finishing principal photography doesn’t mean the season is ready to stream, of course. The series now has to move through the lengthy post-production process.

That work is particularly important for a show like Wednesday. Its supernatural characters and environments require plenty of finishing touches, while editing, visual effects, sound, and other elements still need to come together.

Even so, completing filming removes a major question from the equation. Netflix now has the footage, and the focus can move toward turning it into the finished season.

That brings up the biggest question still hanging over Season 3: When will fans actually get to watch it?

All Eyes Are Turning Toward 2027

A 2027 premiere is currently expected for Wednesday Season 3, although Netflix has not officially announced that release year or provided a specific date.

That distinction is important. Fans shouldn’t circle a particular month on the calendar just yet.

Still, wrapping production before October 2026 gives the team months to work through post-production as the expected 2027 window gets closer.

There is another unanswered question surrounding how Netflix will release the episodes.

Season 2 arrived in two separate parts in August and September 2025. Netflix hasn’t said whether Season 3 will follow the same model or arrive all at once.

While those details remain unknown, the story itself gives fans plenty to think about.

Wednesday Has More Than One Problem Waiting

Season 2 left on Wednesday with an especially personal mission.

Enid Sinclair transformed into an Alpha werewolf, leaving her future uncertain. Instead of heading home and putting another strange year behind her, Wednesday prepared to search for her best friend alongside Uncle Fester.

Tyler Galpin also remains part of the equation. Wednesday allowed the Hyde to live, keeping another dangerous and unpredictable piece on the board heading into Season 3.

Then there is Aunt Ophelia.

Wednesday received a vision involving Morticia’s long-missing sister, introducing another Addams family mystery. An ominous message also suggested that Wednesday could face danger herself.

Season 3 won’t leave that storyline sitting in the background.

A Bigger Mystery Is Already Taking Shape

Eva Green will officially portray Aunt Ophelia, expanding the character’s presence after the Season 2 tease. Creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have indicated that her return will have serious consequences for the Addams family.

The story also appears ready to stretch beyond Nevermore Academy.

Netflix has teased a trip to Paris as Wednesday searches for Enid, suggesting the next season will explore new territory while continuing Season 2’s unresolved mystery.

Nevermore will still matter, though.

Wednesday and her classmates are entering senior year, putting adulthood and their futures increasingly into focus. Ortega has indicated those questions will factor into the new season.

The cast is growing as well.

Winona Ryder joins as Tabitha, while Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and Kennedy Moyer are also newcomers. Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy, and James Lance will appear as guest stars.

Ortega returns alongside Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Fred Armisen, and Isaac Ordonez. Tim Burton will also return as an executive producer and director.

The Biggest Step Is Now Behind Season 3

Netflix still has plenty it isn’t telling fans.

There is no official premiere date, Netflix hasn’t confirmed 2027, and several new characters remain mysterious. Exactly how Enid, Tyler, and Ophelia’s stories eventually connect also remains unclear.

What has changed is the production status.

Filming is done, allowing Wednesday Season 3 to enter its next stage after spending much of 2026 in front of the cameras.

Fans may still have a lengthy wait ahead, but the new episodes are no longer simply being filmed somewhere outside Dublin. They are moving toward completion.

And with a 2027 premiere currently expected, Wednesday Addams is another major step closer to returning.
