There’s something surreal about knowing a Disney ride you’ve experienced for years is about to disappear forever. Not a temporary closure. Not a short refurbishment. Gone.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is officially closing for good on March 2, which means March 1 is the final day guests can ride the high-speed thriller in its original form. After that, the attraction will shut down to be transformed into a Muppets-themed experience.
For longtime Disney fans, that’s a big deal.
When the coaster debuted in 1999, it felt like Disney was stepping into new territory. This wasn’t a gentle family attraction. It launched riders from zero to highway speeds in seconds. It flipped them upside down in complete darkness. It blasted Aerosmith through on-board speakers while neon freeway signs flashed past.
For many guests, it was their first “big” coaster.
The storyline was simple but effective. You entered G-Force Records, ran into Aerosmith in the studio, and got invited to make it to their concert in time. From there, you boarded a super-stretch limo and raced through Los Angeles traffic, hoping to catch the show before the band hit the stage.

Five different songs rotated through the ride vehicles, giving fans an excuse to ride again and again. It wasn’t just about the thrill. It was about the music. The vibe. The energy.
Now, with only a week left, the mood around the attraction feels different. There’s a sense of urgency. Guests aren’t just riding for fun. They’re riding for closure.
And it’s not just the coaster that’s closing. The Rock Around the Shop merchandise location will also shut down, along with KRNR The Rock Station food truck nearby. That means the entire corner of Sunset Boulevard is about to change.
Disney plans to retheme the coaster to feature The Muppets, specifically the Electric Mayhem band. It’s a very different tone. Where Aerosmith delivered hard-driving rock and a slightly edgy atmosphere, The Muppets will likely bring humor, chaos, and a lighter touch.

Some fans are excited about the update. Others feel like a piece of their Disney childhood is being retired.
Either way, March 1 is the last chance to experience this version of the attraction. If you’ve been putting off “one more ride,” this is your reminder.
After nearly three decades of launches, loops, and guitar riffs, the limo is pulling into the garage for the final time.

Ooh wow Muppets them..they should get rid of et ride too
Muppets? Seriously?
I’m assuming they couldn’t obtain licensing for either Star Wars or MCU theming. I’m not sure how the Muppets will work out, might be fine. I enjoy the whole atmosphere, love to just hang out around the coaster, that’s what I’ll miss the most.
That’s so sad. My first trip to Disney was in Feb 2000. My ex husband and I had lost 8 babies in 3 1/2 yrs trying. So he surprised me with a trip I always dreamed of. The first thing I wanted to do was go on this coaster. Out second day I woke up and was in pain. I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. Called by gyno and said what should I do terrified. She said relax and have fun. I rode this coaster 5 times alone. My ex was chicken. Went home and started bleeding ready to lose another baby But that didnt happen. I went on bed rest, had a horrible 9 months but brought my daughter into the world. 7 yrs later we brought her to Disney for the first time in Feb 2007. My first ride? Aerosmith of course. Went back July of 2014 but it was way to busy and never got on it again. Those days of expensive vacations ended long ago. But now at 25 yrs old she promised me it’s time for her to pay next time. We shall see.
That’s very sad about the Rock ‘N’ Roller coaster going away. I know Disney has been wanting it to go away for a long time even though it’s a big park favorite. Makes no sense. I only got to ride it once, but I’m glad I did especially now. I really don’t think the Muppets will go over. That’s really a lame replacement for Aerosmith in my opinion.
My youngest sons favorite ride! SMH we have so many fun memories riding this, literally watching my kids grow up riding this!
So… they removed a Muppets themed attraction, and since so many people were upset with that they decided to put it back in Rock N’ Roll rollercoaster… Look, I was a chicken. I didn’t ride it. But standing in line and waiting in the shop were an experience unto itself! The music was so good! The theme was excellent. It’s a shame. There is almost no reason for me to return to Disney. Every single attraction I frequented has been turned into something else.
You have to be kidding. Keep it rock just get another band. Not Muppets
Thats one ride I’ll miss but not looking forward to going back for that
