For four years, audiences followed the journey of Betty, an awkward young woman with little sense of style, as she navigated her new job at a trendy, upscale fashion magazine. Ugly Betty starred America Ferrera as the lovable Betty, who lands a role at Mode magazine after a CEO pushes his son—the editor-in-chief—to stop getting romantically involved with the women who work for him.
At first, Betty’s innocent nature and lack of worldliness alienate her coworkers. But over time, her sincerity wins them over, especially her boss, Daniel, and the two develop a close friendship.

Ugly Betty ran for four seasons before it ended in 2010 due to declining ratings. Despite its cancellation, several of its stars have enjoyed highly successful careers. America Ferrera, for instance, starred in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants films and recently gained attention in the blockbuster Barbie (2023) alongside Margot Robbie.
Eric Mabius, who played the editor-in-chief Daniel, became a Hallmark movie staple. However, his future with the network may be uncertain after a recent illegal incident.

The actor was arrested on charges of battery after a late-night altercation at a bar in Florida. The shocking news has left fans stunned, especially considering Mabius’ reputation for being a beloved TV star known for his roles in family-friendly projects.
Now, with the release of his mug shot, the situation has become even more public and controversial.
The Incident
The arrest took place in Nassau County, Florida, where Mabius was involved in an altercation at a local bar. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the scene around 2 a.m. following a disturbance.
TMZ has obtained the arrest report … A Nassau County sheriff’s deputy responded to a call about a fight at a bar in the city of Yulee, Florida at about 2:13 Thursday morning. The deputy says a male at the scene was trying to help a woman stand just inside the doorway … and both appeared “extremely intoxicated,” yelling at people inside. The deputy and a second deputy carried the woman outside, where she laid on the ground, and “continued to resist,” according to the report.
When deputies arrived, Eric allegedly became belligerent and refused commands to sit, even walking up behind one deputy … prompting his arrest. Mabius and the drunk woman were both arrested for battery and resisting without violence.

Mabius’ Career: From Ugly Betty to Legal Trouble
Eric Mabius’ career has largely been associated with wholesome, family-friendly roles, particularly his portrayal of the lovable Daniel Meade on Ugly Betty. The actor also became a regular on the Hallmark Channel, where he starred in a number of romantic comedies.
However, this recent incident has the potential to alter his public image and raise questions about his future in the industry.
The timing of this arrest is especially unfortunate given Mabius’ previous involvement in discussions about a possible Ugly Betty revival.

Fans have long been clamoring for a continuation of the series, and Mabius himself has expressed interest in reprising his role. However, this legal issue may complicate those plans and could affect how both fans and industry professionals view his career going forward.
Legal Fallout
At this point, Mabius has not issued any public statements regarding the arrest. His legal team will likely address the charges, and it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold in the coming weeks. As of now, the actor faces charges of battery, and the legal process is still in the early stages.
It’s important to note that Mabius’ arrest does not automatically end his career. However, it does create uncertainty about how Hollywood will view him moving forward. Given his history of portraying clean-cut characters, the incident could potentially cause him to lose some of his brand image, especially in family-friendly programming.
