Former ABC star Roseanne Barr is no stranger to controversy. At the height of her show’s popularity in early 1990, Barr purposely sang the National Anthem out of tune at a San Diego Padres game and finished her version of the song by grabbing her private parts. Fans and critics were outraged that Barr would treat the anthem with such disrespect, but now, that just seems like the start of a long and controversial career.
Despite a laundry list of controversies after her National Anthem performance, Disney-owned ABC decided to reboot her show, Roseanne. The show was a ratings juggernaut, but it wouldn’t last. After just three months, Disney and ABC abruptly canceled the show and rebranded it The Conners with the remaining cast members. The new version of the show is now in its sixth season. The cancelation of Roseanne came as Barr posted a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett, an adviser to former President Barack Obama.
In recent months, Barr has become a favorite of conservative groups who have railed against “cancel culture.” So, despite all the controversies, it was no surprise that Barr was asked to speak at the Turning Point USA conference in Phoenix, Arizona, on Sunday as part of their annual AmericaFest event.
According to The Wrap, Barr took the stage and looked “wobbly.” She spoke for just over 20 minutes and left the crowd in stunned silence. At one point, she screamed “fight” at them more than a dozen times.

Barr said:
If we don’t stop these horrible Communists — do you hear me? I’m asking you to hear me, Stalinists, Communists, with a huge helping of Nazi fascists thrown in, plus one caliphate! To replace every Christian democracy on Earth now! Occupy! Do you know that?! I just want the truth,” she continued. “We deserve to hear the truth. That’s what we want! We want the truth! We don’t care which party is wrong, we know they’re both nothing but crap! They’re both on the take! They’re both stealing us blind! We just want the truth about everything we fought and died and suffered to protect! We want the truth!
It is unclear precisely who or what Roseanne Barr was referencing. In the past, she was accused of being antisemitic for accusing billionaire George Soros, who is a Holocaust survivor, of being a Nazi and married off his nephew to Chelsea Clinton. The Chelsea Clinton/George Soros conspiracy theory is one of many that Barr has echoed in recent years.
“Nobody died in the Holocaust. It SHOULD happen. Six millions Jews SHOULD die right now, because they cause all the problems in the world.”
Is anyone surprised that sicko Roseanne Barr supports Donald Trump?pic.twitter.com/I4szhQmDT1

Earlier this year, Barr commented that “no one died in the Holocaust.” She would later take to social media to apologize and say it was a “bad joke.”
Despite having a hit sitcom, ABC would not put up with her racism, conspiracy theories, and controversial tweets. The Conners, starring John Goodman and Sara Gilbert, has continued without her and been quite successful.
