Amazon MGM’s ‘James Bond’ Reboot Unveils Female Star and New Footage

IO Interactive’s upcoming 007 First Light is taking shape as one of the most ambitious James Bond video game projects in years, and its latest reveal pushes that ambition further.

New 007 Female Star Unveiled, With New Footage

The third-person action-adventure title has now debuted its official title sequence alongside a new original song, marking a major milestone ahead of its release. The sequence was unveiled in an official video that premiered last week.

Accompanying the visuals is “First Light,” a new track by Lana Del Rey. The song anchors the sequence with a cinematic tone that aligns with the franchise’s long-standing tradition of high-profile musical collaborations, while establishing a distinct identity for the game’s version of Bond. The reveal comes as the James Bond film franchise undergoes its own transformation at Amazon MGM Studios. A full reboot is in development, with Denis Villeneuve (Dune: Part Two) attached to direct and Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) writing the screenplay. The project is positioned as a reset for the character following the end of the Daniel Craig era.

At this stage, however, no actor has been confirmed or officially revealed as the next James Bond (007), leaving the central role uncast as the new continuity takes shape.

As for 007 First Light, it stars Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) as a younger iteration of Bond, with a supporting cast that includes Priyanga Burford (M), Kiera Lester (Miss Moneypenny), Naomie Ackie (Miss Roth), Alastair Mackenzie (Q), Lennie James (John Greenway), Gemma Chan (Selina Tan), and Lenny Kravitz (Bawma).

The parallel development of both film and game versions of Bond reflects a broader expansion of the franchise, with 007 First Light acting as a standalone origin-style experience while the cinematic reboot builds its own foundation.

With Lana Del Rey’s “First Light” now tied to the game’s title sequence and Villeneuve’s film reboot still assembling its lead, James Bond is being reintroduced across multiple formats at once—each shaping a different version of the iconic spy.

“Follow James Bond as a young, resourceful, and sometimes reckless recruit in MI6’s training program, and discover an origin story of the world’s most famous spy,” the official synopsis for the game reads.

007 First Light will be released on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows on May 27, 2026.

There’s no release date for the untitled film reboot.
