6. The Oasis
This is perhaps the first place you will find yourself venturing to upon arriving at Animal Kingdom Park, with accessible footpaths and walking trails laden with animal paw print markings. Add that to the overall surrounding serenity of tropical flora, cooling waters, and an all-encompassing calmness of peace all around, you will agree that naming this section of the park “the Oasis” was the right decision. And as a vibrant sanctuary for thriving life, visitors to this area will get their chance to see a whole host of creatures, mostly birds but also including a couple of land mammals. The diverse lineup to keep a look out for includes:
- Macaws (Hyacinth, Scarlet, Military)
- Ducks (Javan tree, Ruddy, Bufflehead, Bronze-winged, Hooded merganser, Rosy-billed Pochard, Chiloé wigeon, Bahama pintail, Indian Spot-billed, and the Radjah shelduck)
- Teals (Puna, Ringed, and Sharp-winged)
- Swamp wallaby
- African spoonbill
- Florida cooter
- White ibis
- Babirusa
- Medium sulphur-crested cockatoo
- Giant anteater
- Reeves’s muntjac
5. DinoLand U.S.A.
It is nature meets nostalgia in the best demonstration imaginable at this themed blast from the past area of Animal Kingdom Park. While most other sections focus on animals and thriving nature practices of a current standing, DinoLand U.S.A. offers guests a more transcending experience with a focus that’s primarily primeval. Of course there are other elements to this section of the park, which do not necessarily keep to the traditional prehistoric persuasion exclusively, but all the same succeed in maintaining a theme that goes beyond the land. Finding Nemo: The Musical is one primary example of this. But because the most famous specimens of this themed area are extinct, animal exhibits on display here are admittedly more scant, though you will find a couple birds—the closest adaptations to dinosaurs we have living today. All the same, confirmed creatures to observe here do include:
- American crocodile
- Red-legged seriema
- Abdim stork
- Asian brown tortoise
