Another Tragedy Strikes Disney World, Person Drops at Bus Stop

A new emergency response at Walt Disney World Resort has added to a growing list of distressing incidents that have unfolded over the past two months. Late Wednesday morning, first responders rushed to Disney Springs after receiving a “person down” report near one of the area’s bus stops.

The emergency at Disney Springs follows a series of tragic events at Walt Disney World Resort that began in mid-October. The first involved a 31-year-old woman who died by suicide after falling from an interior balcony at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The grieving family later identified her as Summer Equitz, an Illinois guest who had spontaneously flown to Central Florida shortly before the incident.

Only days later, another guest in their 60s passed away at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds. Although the event drew significant attention due to its proximity to the earlier tragedy, authorities eventually confirmed that the death was from natural causes.

A second suicide at Disney’s Contemporary Resort occurred on October 23, when 28-year-old Matthew Cohn died after falling from a 12th-floor balcony at Bay Lake Tower. Witnesses reported blocked-off areas around the pool, and Disney cast members discouraging guests from looking out their windows.

November brought two additional deaths at the Walt Disney World Resort hotels. A woman in her 40s died at Disney’s Pop Century Resort on November 2, followed by another fatality at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort on November 8. In both cases, officials stated that foul play was not suspected, but few details have been made available.

The newest call occurred around 10:35 a.m. on November 26. According to @WDWActiveCrime, an X (formerly Twitter) account that tracks scanner activity in the Walt Disney World Resort area, the alert described a “person down” situation at the Bus Drop Off Drive at Disney Springs.

The location could indicate either a guest waiting for official Walt Disney World Resort transportation or a Disney cast member using employee-specific shuttles. At this time, neither law enforcement nor Walt Disney World Resort has released updates regarding the person’s condition or the circumstances surrounding the collapse.

Sometimes, authorities update emergency calls in real-time to reflect whether a patient has died; however, unless criminal activity is involved, further updates are not guaranteed. Walt Disney World Resort guests frequently encounter first responders assisting with medical issues ranging from dehydration to sudden health complications, and only a small percentage of these events result in public statements being issued.
