With ticket purchases open for Halloween happenings like Oogie Boogie Bash, the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim is top of mind for many Disney Guests. The summer season is in full swing, and the Park is getting significant updates at the Disney California Adventure Park.
Although sections of Pacific Wharf, like the beloved beer cart, are permanently parting ways with Disney to make room for the incoming San Fransokyo square inspired by the Academy-Award-winning Big Hero 6, there are other significant closures Disney Guests need to know about.
Trains, Toys, and Hang-Gliders
While it’s common for refurbishments to table some of Disney’s most famous attractions, the upcoming closure of Disneyland Park’s trademark will shake up the way Guests get around. The monorail, the futuristic train ride that’s an attraction all its own, is shutting down on July 5 at Disneyland. On the official website, Disneyland states the following about the monorail:
Beginning July 5, 2023, the Disneyland Monorail will be closed for refurbishment. Please check back here for updates about when it will reopen.
The beloved monorail isn’t the only significant closure happening on July 5. “Soarin’ Around the World” is indefinitely shutting down on the same day. Although the attraction is slated to close at least through July 10, no official date has been released for its reopening. This refurbishment comes after a potentially unrelated incident of Guests suspended on the top row of the hang-gliding ride for nearly an hour. If these updates rectify whatever caused that malfunction, we’d say this is a good thing.
Per Deadline, “Toy Story Midway Mania!” is inexplicably shutting its doors on July 17. The interactive 4D game featuring Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie, Hamm, Rex, Trixie, and more is a favorite Disneyland ride, and there’s no explanation for its closure. The attraction also doesn’t list a reopening date, so Guests will have to hang on to their hats until Disney releases an update.
Although learning about closed attractions during your vacation is never ideal, likely, Guests will only have to say “TTFN’ (Ta Ta For Now). Disney Fanatic will continue sharing updates about these attractions reopening.
