A new patriotic twist has found its way into Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort.
On Monday, WDWNT reported the new addition to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, part of a larger refurbishment of the attraction. According to the report, new tracks have been spotted arriving via crane, but an unusual dumpster painted to resemble an American flag is truly turning heads. Crews have also installed a new seating area near the ride queue.

The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad refurbishment began in January and will continue through early 2026. When it reopens, the roller coaster will debut some “new magic.” Walt Disney World Resort hasn’t announced an exact reopening date.
Beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: What’s Next for Frontierland?
These updates aren’t the only changes taking place in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom Park. Even after the debut of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the refreshed Country Bear Musical Jamboree last year, changes to the area are not over.

Permits have been filed for the demolition of Tom Sawyer Island and parts of the Rivers of America in preparation for two new Cars (2006) attractions. Beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, crews are beginning work on a Disney Villains land that will vastly expand Magic Kingdom Park’s footprint.
Walt Disney World Resort is also expanding its other theme parks. A Spaceship Earth-themed lounge will open at EPCOT later this summer, while Disney’s Hollywood Studios is prepping to build a Monsters, Inc. (2001) land. Crews are building a Tropical Americas-themed land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and demolishing It’s Tough To Be A Bug! inside the Tree of Life for a new show: Zootopia: Better Zoogether.
