The Walt Disney Company has been known to be pretty stringent about its image. Many former Disney stars have spoken out time and again about their time with the Mouse House and their experience on the Disney Channel, explaining how their time with Disney had impacted their mental health and even their careers.
However, recently, one surprising article was making the rounds, and it’s one that took us by surprise… until we dove deeper.
Outlet Hard Drive recently published an article detailing how the Walt Disney Company executives informed a “horrified” Jeff Bridges of their plans to “remake” him.
As many Disney fans know, Jeff Bridges is a legendary actor who has featured in Disney’s TRON: Legacy, as well as other famous projects like True Grit, The Big Lebowski, and Crazy Heart. He’s an Academy Award-winning actor and is one of the most renowned names in Hollywood today.
Hard Drive published an article that detailed how Disney wanted to “remake” the legendary actor, a move he reportedly didn’t consent to, even adding supposed statements from Disney CEO Bob Iger.
Per Hard Drive,
Mr. Bridges was sadly not very receptive to our plans,” said Robert Iger, CEO of Disney, shortly after meeting with the Academy Award winner. “However, we reminded him that we are contractually within our rights to go ahead with the project even without his blessing. We disagree with his assertion that this live action remake is distasteful to the original, and are excited about bringing Jeff Bridges to a whole new generation! We’re also fairly certain Jeff will live through the procedure as well. Which is great news!”
Of course, if fans were even remotely concerned that this was anything less than satire, they can rest assured. With a concluding statement that “As of press time, the remade Jeff Bridges had broken free of its chains and was terrorizing New York City as authorities tried to bring it down,” it’s certain that Jeff Bridges and his person are safe from being remade by Disney.
The article was clearly poking fun at Disney’s long list of recent live-action remakes and was written in good humor. After all, the suggestion of “remaking” a human being is quite ludicrous altogether.
