Disney attractions often malfunction and break down. Unfortunately, it’s a risk that you take when visiting a theme park that is over 50 years old. Sometimes a Disney ride rescue is required. Recently, a group of park guests discovered this when they got stuck on Pirates of the Caribbean at Walt Disney World Resort.
Pirates of the Caribbean
Pirates of the Caribbean is THE quintessential Disney theme park attraction. It first opened at Disneyland Park in 1967 and has since spawned similar attractions at Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom Park as well as Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland.
The original versions of the ride are famous for touches of Walt Disney himself, intricate theming, and iconic audio-animatronics. And, of course, the original song “Yo Ho, Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me)” that gets stuck in everyone’s head after riding it.

The ride also inspired the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise starring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann, and Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa.
The Disney Ride Rescue
Last week, a video was shared on TikTok capturing the rescue of guests stranded on the iconic Walt Disney World Resort attraction. Taken by one of the stranded guests, the short clip shows Disney cast members in waders and Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (formerly Reedy Creek) firefighters surrounding guests stuck on the pirate ride.
The video also shows the music has been turned off, and the lights are on.

“We’re saved,” a few guests joke from the boat.
One of the firemen attempts to pull the boat closer with his foot–“We tried rocking it,” a guest in the video responds. The TikTok video ends as the firefighters start instructing guests on evacuation procedures.

No one appears to have been injured during the evacuation. It also seems that the incident happened near the end of the attraction circuit.
As of the posting of this article, Pirates of the Caribbean seems to be operating as normal.
