The late actor Chadwick Boseman recently won an Emmy Award for his voiceover work with Marvel Studios on the series called What If…?, and even though many Marvel fans and Disney fans actually claimed that the Black Panther actor did not deserve the Emmy Award, Disney fans were more than welcoming towards the late actor when he was given a Disney Legend Award at today’s D23 Expo.
Chadwick Boseman received a standing ovation from the crowd attending the D23 Expo’s Disney Legend Awards ceremony (a ceremony during which Boseman posthumously received the award in the company of Frozen actors like Idina Menzel and Black-ish actors like Anthony Anderson), making his welcome far more positive than that of the current Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek (who was actually booed during the D23 Expo).
Chadwick Boseman died after a long and (at his request) well-hidden battle with colon cancer. The actor’s death shocked many Black Panther fans, since Marvel fans loved his character T’Challa, but it also shocked his co-workers and friends.

Other highlights from the Disney Legend Awards ceremony included a magical performance by Idina Menzel (who received the Disney Legend Award alongside three of her co-stars), a surprising speech from actor Josh Gad, and two appearances from Grey’s Anatomy actors whose work typically seems far outside the Disney spectrum.
